Does anybody out there know anything about the law regarding letting someone use land that you own to raise animals ... and their ability if it goes on for a certain period of time, to then claim ownership of the same land!

We own a 3 acre meadow and we allow a local farmer to keep his sheep on it at no cost. It suits us as it keeps the grass down and obviously it suits him as he gets a rent free meadow to use!

However I have been told that if he uses it for 365 consecutive days he is then entitled to make some sort of claim on it! I'd like to know, before I make a complete fool of myself by asking him to remove them for one day per year if this is the case.

If I get no joy from all the very knowledgeable people who use this site then I will of course consult a solicitor. I do know Doc had a similar problem, when he was buying his house with the people who were selling it and if it what was done to them happened to me, I would be a trifle miffed to say the least!

I'll let Doc decide if he wants to put his story on here, but if anyone can shed any light on the law regarding this I would be very grateful!
