As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

Belle I'm not sure what you are saying.

Conor. one of the things that the knicker pic reminds me off is a 'comfort blanket' I had as a young lad. It's the way the finger and thumb are feeling the fabric. I'll go and look for the story. (It was 1939, I was three years old and we had gone to Derbyshire to get away from the bombing)

" When we first went to Burr's Mount there was a bit of a disaster as far as 1 was concerned. They forgot to bring my silk scarf with them. I had a green silk scarf which, if you twiddled it between your thumb and forefinger was rough one way and silky smooth the other. I always went to sleep playing with this and still twiddle silk to this day! However, on this occasion I was bereft. Mrs Hancock had the answer, she gave me a pair of corsets that had silk panels in them and this solved my problem. Later in life, what interests me is that it was evidently the texture and not the object that I had bonded to. I've no doubt a good psychiatrist could have a field day with that one!"

So there's an example of what the image triggers off in my head. Powerful stuff!

i think belle was saying (though i may have not got this right) is although she doesnt mind nude life drawings, the fact i put mine in a pair of knickers and hitched her finger in her knickers, has made my drawing something else, (i think thats what she is saying). and i dont mind the comment at all.
the comment that has kinda confused me though is about the body form and understanding whats underneath the skin, are you saying the drawing shows lack of understanding of form?

and stanley your as bad as our mum!!  with your bit of silk shes still got her blankeee, i had a dummy, but mum told me when i was 3 that father christmas would leave me rattles and baby toys if i didnt leave my dummys out for father christmas with the mince pie and glass of milk. so i did it, but i can tell you 3 days after christmas i went right off of father christmas, apparently i stomped up the stairs to be saying 'i hate father christmas's guts for taking my dummys' LOL

The first bit is what I was saying, and as i expected you don't have a problem with me expressing these opinions because you know i respect your artistic ability,  the second bit about form was not in ref to your pic, which as far as i can see is spot on re form, it was a reply to those who did not understand the purpose of life drawing.

Brad, I suspect that may be the wrong question. To me it is what is he inviting us to bring to the drawing. Interpretation depends on the mind-set of the viewer and we are all different.

As for the drawing, it's improving for me and even more attractive.

this image above? nothing just a update on progress.

i guess i could say on both drawings, im not saying anything. that is up to the veiwer. but im trying out my skills on different subjects, (not dogs or portraits) the fact that i have been studying human form inside and out. drawing mucles covering bone etc etc i guess its an extention of that, to see if i can pull off a belevable female image.
again the way in which i choose to draw the images, was to invite just another way of veiwing, to not make the body everything in the image, putting lace and ribbons in the image was to add a delicate touch, to make you think that she smells sweet, thats its delicate, maybe sexy in some minds, but thats really up to the veiwer, its not meant to be porn in any way or to be veiwed as smutty because in my mind it isnt.

i could of added leather and chains if i wanted the veiwer to be shocked or if i wanted the drawing to be all about sex, but the drawing is not all about sex, but of a womans beautiful form and i have tried to respect that,
the second drawing i admit is more risky but i knew that when i started the drawing, not one person has complained about the first drawing. the second drawing is the one that has raised eyebrows , but to be honest i guess because i know i have no hidden meaning or agenda  that it really doesnt bother me,

at the end of the day im 17, i am finding myself and trying to grow and experiment with different subjects and materials, but i admit i do love my pencils but recently have really enjoyed acrylics.. so who knows what trouble i will be stirring up next hehe

Conor, you've a wise head and know what you are about. Trust your own judgement, consider objective crtique, but in the end make your decisions and take responsibility yourself.
We are all trying to help but do interpret things in our own way. Its your art and self moderation is the most effectibve form of decision making. Nolic

For me ,that's a fair stance to take , Connor, but I have seen people "shot down in flames " when giving that same answer  in critique sessions .....

You did go some way towards getting you message across( Lee Friedlander  calls it "your bullsh*t " !...)  , with the inclusion of lace to promote the idea of fragrence (good idea).

I KNOW this isn't a critique session , but I find the interpretation of imagery fascinating .
