From the current Liberal Democrat party conference in Sheffield -
A delegate said that conference had "sent the government a message" with its decision to amend the coalition’s health reform plans. To which a visibly exasperated Clegg replied, "you’re part of the government."

Since I had a phone conversation with a potential customer on Saturday I keep chuckling to myself. We started talking about different cuts of pork and when I asked her what her favourite was she answered in all seriousness...... "the bit that sausages come from".
Needless to say I didn't get an order especially after I explained why I wouldn't do free delivery of £7 worth of meat to Riddlesden.

Having started this thread, I feel some responsilility for it. I think it's going well, and has produced what I had hoped for. A mix of thought provoking contemporary, and historical quotes, with some personal family and ' every day' ones We have been spared cut and paste jobs from google and elsewhere, for which I am grateful.

Discussion of the archive of Margaret Thatcher's private correspondence while in office on the radio this morning. One of her notes said: "Thanks a thousand times for the extra radio. Now we can all listen to the Today programme and we can all complain to the BBC". (Her underlining.)
