I first mentioned this photo in the Spring thread but thought it more appropriate to discuss the technicalities in the Photography thread.
For the princely sum of £21 - including charity shop frame - we now have a nice piece of original art on the wall.
However, I'd like to get a better shot than my mobile phone camera could produce.
I'll use a digital SLR on a tripod and experiment with the depth of field so that the subject is more prominent and the background is slightly blurred.
I'll wait till there are a few leaves on the tree, but I'll have to make sure I choose the right time of day so that the shadows - which are an integral part of the image - will create the same effect. The original was taken at about 2pm in early March so I'm guessing mid afternoon in late April would do. Unless any meteorologists/photography experts out there can suggest any different.
My phone camera has a resolution of 8mp (pretty good for a phone) but the SLR will have 10mp so I should get a better result when the image is enlarged.
I had this one done at Pumpkin on the Town Square - just handed over my USB stick and 10 minutes later walked out with the enlargement. Pretty good service, I reckon. They have an Epson large format printer and also a Kodak 'booth' (for want of a better word) where you can go in with your SD card and use the machine yourself to output your regular type of prints.

Here's a thought or three.....
Call it "Family Tree". Get your own printer. Do the picture framing course that Blokman did. Register "Bernulf Fine Art Prints PLC" . Take up your rucsac - without the lead). Play to your strengths. Put the results next to Judy Garland!
