Quick reminder - this Friday is St Patrick's Day so why not come along to The Foster's Arms from 8pm till late and join in the fun?

If you play an instrument, sing, or simply want to have a good night out listening to those Irish classics (Fields of Athenry, Whiskey in the Jar - you know the kind of thing) get yourself there.

It's totally informal - no stage or 'turns' - just like they do it in Ireland.

Nolic and Nandy - we'd really appreciate your company - how 'bout it lads?

I should be out of Colne Muni by 11 at the latest. I could be drinking Black Sheep by twenty past, unless you lot drink it all by the time I get there.

I was there by 11:15 and, thankfully, there was enough to keep everyone going until 1a.m. It was a great way to end the day, and start the next. one.

There was much "ad-libbing" with some of the song lyrics, I don't remember The Fosters Arms, or Black Sheep ale, being mentioned in the origonal "Irish Rover". I'm sure Cally can explain

Sounds like it was a good night Kev.

Did you get Andy to buy the beers?

It was a grand old night.

There was free Irish stew for everyone (including a veggie option) and Nandy took me to task for being disparaging about his rusty wallet. I can quite categorically state that he does NOT have a rusty wallet. In fact, I never saw that he HAD a wallet at all throughout the whole evening...

Didn't get to bed till 3.30am so I'm a bit jaded at present. Maybe my brain'll wake up later and I can give a more detailed account.

It was interesting to hear about Nandy's relationship with Barrowford John.

I've just read that last sentence and I realise it could be interpreted wrongly. What I meant was that they are related. Oh, I think I'd better go and have a snooze!Go to Top of Page
