It was time we had a new one anyway. Any complaints to Sue!

Slow thaw all day and night with light sleet and at the moment, cold rain. A lot of the snow has gone but what there is left on side streets and pavements is deadly because it's wet ice. There will be falls today and ambulances delivering victims to A&E! Glass fallen to 29".

That's hot!! Could do with a little bit of it though. Nice to see the green fields again, but still that raw cold.

Treacherous underfoot, what looks like just water tends to be hiding ice.

I'd be dangerous with a brain!!!!!

Like spring in Toronto, every where around getting blasted, Toronto airport is again jammed with people stuck for 2-3 days with no place to go since all of the East  is/was closed.  New Years Day forecast for +9 and sunny.

Snow nearly all gone now over in Nelson, still some though on the hills above. Very misty and damp now, but feeling milder. Will this milder spell last long I wonder ?

Still thawing but pavements are more dangerous than ever. Glass is rising, back up at 29.3" I'd like to see this ice go before we get any more on top!

Belle, we feel sorry for each other, I can't imagine getting out of bed each day if I had to face your weather.
The office floor below us in our building was evacuated this morning due to a giant bee colony.  When the workers arrived they found bees flying around everywhere inside - coming thru the light fittings.  We share the same air-con but weren't told anything about it until we asked why there was a person in full bee extermination gear and another in a cherry picker outside our windows!!  Apparently the honeycomb structure was quite spectacular.  All we were told was to be wary around a certain area cause there could be a few bees flying around!  Ha!!
We are now expecting 43C on Friday instead of 40.  Oh the joys....

"a person in full bee extermination gear"

For some reason this conjures up, for me, a picture of Michelin Man but with brown and yellow stripes!

Last vestige of snow now gone from the lower reaches of RH County. Bad to judge strength of winters between experiences in Craven and RH County but I feel sure that this winter, so far, has been more consistently colder than 1940/41 and 1946/47 but no where near the quantity of snow in those years. What has happened to Global Warming?
