I went up Letcliffe today in the sunshine with the birds singing and only a light breeze from the NW to spoil things so I decided you were right and it's probably about time we started to be optimistic.  However.....  have you seen the forecast for Easter?

I called in at Bancroft and had a word with Alan Simpson about the swallows.  If they stick to their usual schedule they'll be back this week.  I'll keep you informed......

Spring has sprung, today 16 and sunny, although to the north still have a winter storm warning.  After an unusual amount of snow for Toronto area (a few cms below record level) and what has seemed like a long winter we can look forward to warm, sunny days over the next 2 weeks.  Will soon be keeping an eye on Barlick weather, expect you locals to arrange for bright.warm days in May!

Light shower of hard snow at 12:30 on the way back from Letcliffe......  If those swallows have any sense they'll hang back a bit.......

Very strange that this topic has suddenly gone quiet.  I think we are all fed up with the dragging out of winter.  Well, the swallows are back any day and the weather is slowly getting round to a warm up.  It was a new moon this week so I've officially inaugurated spring at Graham Towers.  I got the shears out and took the thatch off this morning and feel much better.  Cheer up kids, summer isn't far away!  Oh, by the way, it's chilly and almost dry in Barlick this morning with a promise of rain in the forecast but they were wrong mostly yesterday so who cares.

Just had a few days in the Yorkshire Wolds. Weather very nice indeed though a bit nippy first thing. Dan and I got plenty of fishing in - including catching my first crucian carp - a bonny butter coloured fish that fought like the devil for its relatively small size. I caught most but Dan had the better stamp of fish. He lost one of about 15lbs when in frustration at not landing it quick enough he tried to pull the fish in by handover hand on his pole elastic - big fish, no give, 3lb bottom line and consequences are.... he won't do that again. Any fisherman/ wildlife enthusiast who  want a few days break with good fishing on the doorstep, nice cabins with all mod cons including hot tub PM me and I'll send the details.  Oh, Mrs Nolic and Misty had a good time too.Nolic

I noticed yesterday a field full of Geese heading back North, so it looks like Spring has Sprung. Nice pleasant start to the morning up here.

The snow this morning was quite a surprise but the rain soon cleared it off.

Not on Sharphaw it didn't.  I saw it from Letcliffe yesterday with the sun on it and it had a proper covering of snow.  I should have had Mrs Nikon with me........  Damping and cold as I write this......  Jack and I will have to go out in it.

Raining now - Sam & I dodged the showers when we went out - did not think it was quite as cold as yesterday.

I decided it was going to be a damp day and gave the stone flags at the front a light dusting of washing soda to get rid of the slippery moss.  Very attractive but dangerous.

The good news is that we have turned the corner.  The East wind has gone, we have a light SW wind bringing rain and everything has warmed up.  I for one am delighted, we nopw have proper Spring conditions and the trees off Bank Street have all sprouted blossom overnight.  Everything will start bursting into growth now....  Lovely!

Yesterday was lovely, but this morning is damp, dark and foggy, you never know it could mean it will be hot and sunny by the afternoon.

What a difference a week makes, now getting 20/21 degree days with sun, flowers in bloom, grass is turning green, patio bars are open, people wearing shorts.  The change in seasons always seems so fast.  Western parts of the country have been digging out from under dumps of snow, just no accounting for weather patterns anymore.  As you said on another topic Stanley, only 9 more weeks before the days start to get shorter.
