I had smoked tofu fajita things. was so easy, just put some salsa on smoked tofu and warmed it up, then whacked some lettuce, chopped tomato and avocado on a wimdoo tortila, put the tofu on, then a littl ebit of sourced cream and cheddar and it was done!
for after was a quarter of a rather delicious gala melon. YUM!

Possible Belle, my mild dyslexia kicks in every now and again, no offence intended to either of you. It was kedgeree made with Tuna and I made it using smoked mackerel. Maz was right, very morish. Make plenty!

Ah the tuna kedgeree is my recipe....real kedgeree uses smoked fish and eggs so you have gone to the traditional recipe..not being keen on eggs and trying to keep costs down i dispensed with both the smoked fish and the hard boiled eggs..hence the tuna. It is morish whichever way you make it!

Had mashed boiled eggs, chopped fresh mint and salad cream spread on a butty last night...... Chaudrey's do a good line in small eggs, 15 for £1.15 and they are Lion Branded! Half price compared to Co-op.

Caulis in Chaudhry's priced per cauli rather than by weight - they were all normal size except for a HUGE one, so I bought it rather sharpish! Plus some carrots.
Then had a delivery from the people Thomo mentioned in the Tesco thread - superb quality veg - the spuds seemed to have just been pulled from the ground, the courgettes were firm and the mushrooms were pristine.
Suddenly I'd ended up with a lot of beautiful fresh food which was in danger of not being eaten at its best.
So as it was E's birthday we called in the troops (Big Kev & P) to help us out and I made a large cauliflower cheese with boiled spuds, and courgettes cooked in lemon with mushrooms. With a glass of champagne to wash it down.

Half price New potatoes from the Co-op boiled with mint and same water used to thaw the frozen peas. Half a meat pie to give it some bottom! Nice cheap tea.
Co-op are gradually getting straight. Take note they are closing from 8pm on Wednesday evening until Monday morning to finish the refit off.

Spuds are still a dreadful price in our major supermarkets, so I am hanging off buying any until Tuesday when I have to go past a certain fruit and veg shop during the course of my day.
We have a fresh Chicken Shop near us that does all sorts of interesting things with Chicken. Febby wanted to try something new ( I nearly died to hear it because he never wants to try anything new), and he chose some Chicken 'pinwheels'. They are a rolled pastry thing with chicken meat and 'stuff' inside. The 'stuff looks like some sort of cheese and red pepper. So dinner will be an interesting affair at any rate...

Maz, we are seeing the same thing here. All food has gone up and I noticed particularly uesterday that a 1500g bag of best strong bread flour has doubled in price over the last 12 months (£1.67). Perhaps it's time I bought a large bag from one of the mills? My medium oatmeal and dried peas look like a real bargain now!
Had cheese on toast and three scones for tea.

Bacon, sausage and baked beans casserole with new potatoes.
Not often I agree with the Daily Mail but they have supported the EU Commissioners who have evidently said that bacon with added water, what I call 'pickled pork', can't be sold as 'bacon'. Hear Hear!

i had bits of old veg lying around in the fridge, some mushrooms, a pepper, so i made a chili with dried lentils (so cheap comparent to tinned, i think ive used half the packet and had over 20 meals from it. never going back again! didnt have any kidney beans so didnt put them in.
bit of wholegrain rice, boiled up and there ya go!

Dried pulses are still the cheapest nutrition there is and so cheap. Ask at Chaudrey's and they will get you a 2
89lb bag of dried peas. Never go off, always useful. Try asking for that at a supermarket!
Made another casserole thickened with potatoes. Then I wondered what would happen if I cracked an egg on top while it was cooling...... Different!
