The Earby & District Local History Society is launching a new publication "A Look Back at Farming in Earby" at 11.00am tomorrow (Saturday 17th Sept.) in the Parish Council Rooms, Earby.
The book, which has been researched and written by Stephanie Carter, traces how farming in Earby changed through the 20th century. It is full of photos, articles and the memories of local farming folk and is for sale at £7.50. (contact me if you would like a copy, or even come along to the launch.)
We also have an exhibition of "Recycling Past & Present" open all next week in the Parish Rooms. This is in conjunction with Pendle Council.

Have sent you a pm with the details John. The book is selling well, we only have a dozen copies left from a print run of 75....and all in a few days.

Wendy, my `brass' was sent hurtling towards you yesterday, please don't sell too many before you get it.

I got my personal delivery and I have to report that living at Lower Burnt Hill isn't doing Wendy any harm, she looks extremely healthy and attractive! (Should have snapped her.....) The book is full of memories and I enjoyed reading it. I only found one error, the captions on the strewing machine and the side rake on page 32 have got transposed..... (Everyone's a critic!)

Ted, I have your copy here ready to go. I'm afraid I have overcharged you by 25p....I have just seen the new autumn issue of the Earby Chronicles and Bob is advertising the book including p&p at £9.25! I can't deliver yours personally but I will send it first class to make up.
Thanks for your nice comments Stanley. I will pass on the ones about the book and see if we can get the mistake rectified in the next print run.
I have had a really good summer...it has been cool, but up until recently it has been dry, and that means I've been able to get lots done outside. Plenty veggies grown & eaten and progress made towards a simpler lifestyle...it feels good!

If you haven't already sent it Wendy, please don't bother. Don't be out of pocket with the job. Thank you.

Daughter Susan turned up with a pressy for me yesterday, another copy of the book. I think she will be reading it and then passing it on to someone else. No wonder the print run is selling well!
