If you want to post a topic or a reply and include an image within that post then below you will find instructions on how to achieve this.

If you want to upload an image that isn't already on the site then follow this link to find out how: CLICK HERE

To add a standard image (photograph) to a topic all you need is the images "URL" address, you can get this by searching the picture section to display the image that you want and below that image you will find further details about who uploaded it, copyright information etc and also the "URL" address, it will be something like http://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/images/userpictures/Yourimage.jpg"
Copy this address into your computers clipboard memory by highlighting the full address with your mouse while depressing the left mouse button then release. then using your right mouse button over the highlighted address select the "Copy" option.

At the area within your new topic or reply where you want the image to appear, click on the "Insert Image" Icon
on the editors menu, it will then ask you for the "URL" address of the image that you want to include. In that request box copy the address from your computers clipboard memory by either pressing the "CTRL" & the "V" keys simultaneously or by right clicking your mouse and selecting the "Paste" option.

In your topic you should now see that the software placed the following code into your topic {img}http://www.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/images/userpictures.yourimage.jpg{/img}

IMG Commands
{img}xxxxx{/img} = left aligned image with no word wrap
{img=left}xxxxxx{/img=left} = left aligned image with word wrap
{img=right}xxxxxx{/img=right} = right aligned image with word wrap
{center}{img}xxxxxx{/img}{/center} = centered image with no word wrap

Note: I have used the "{}" characters for instructional purposes only in reality it will show the "[]" characters, this is because if I used them here in this example it would try and display the image or the function and not the code used.

Doc -

I don't seem to be able to get the hang of this.  When I CLICK HERE, I get back to the Home Page - can this be right?  What am I doing wrong? (It'll be immediately obvious!)  What I want to do is post one of my photos.  Looking at his 'Test' thread, Gugger seems to have been able to do it before he could speak ... but, not being able to speak, he couldn't  leave any clues ...

Sorry to bother you, but help!

skooch

POSTING PICS

posting pics.....  Make sure the pic is JPEG.  Adjust size to 8" maximum dimension at 72dpi for colour and 10" max dimension for B&W.  Always check B&W pics to make sure they are in greyscale mode.  Save the adjusted pic in a folder dedicated to OG pics on your hard drive.  On Pictures menu at top of page >submit pic.  Fill in the submit form and when you click on 'browse' to find your pic, go to your OGFB pics folder.  Click on the pic you want to upload and then click submit on the form.  If you've done everything right and you have a good connection to the server you will get a dialogue box that tells you your pic has been accepted.  If you want to post that pic in a topic, highlight and copy the top URL by clicking on it and dragging cursor across it and right clicking for copy.  Navigate back to the topic and in the edit box click on the 'submit image' icon, paste in the site URL and click submit.  Your pic will appear in the edit box.  Hit return until the cursor is below the pic and carry on.  Keywords are just a way of helping the search engine to find the pics.  I never bother but give a descriptive title as the search engine scans that as well.  Once you have cracked it posting pics is easy.  Most common user error is wrong format or wrong size.  It’s not a good idea to link pics in from another site, this can cause problems.  Have the file physically present on your hard drive, that way you can be sure of access.

If you're posting an image so as to include it in a topic highlight the upper of the two URLs you see when it is accepted during the loading process.  Copy this and go straight to the place you want to post it and click on the image logo in the edit box menu then paste the URL into the top box.  If you miss copying the URL when accepted, wait till the pic is approved and up on the pictures page under new pictures.  Access the pic, left click on it for the larger image, right click for a menus including properties, > properties and copy the URL from there.

Now you know why so few can do it............  lolol

There are a lot easier ways of doing it, but its pointless arguing with Stanley.

You can safely ignore the first post in this thread, it was written for the old forum softwareand is no longer relevent.

Pluggy, why do you say to ignore the first post in the thread? If you mean Doc's 2004 post, that method still works.

And what's wrong with Stanley's method? It works fine for me. In fact both methods work fine as far as I can see.

The {IMG} stuff isn't relevent any more.  I didn't look too closely at the rest of it I'll admit.  Other than it being complex theres nothing wrong with Stanleys method.  We've already been through it.   Using one of the hundreds of image posting sites is easier.  But S is keen to keep the stuff on OGFB.

 Shutting up now........

Whaddaya mean? 'The {IMG} stuff isn't relevent any more.'

Now, see, I did that IMG stuff sentence by highlight and drag.  Why can't I copy and paste photos?

I wrote the posting images boilerplate three years ago because it saved me saying the same thing over and over again.  It answers the question, 'how can I post a pic'.  It works.  That's all a newcomer needs, something that works.  If Skooch does exactly what it says on the label he can post pics.  As for being complicated, everything is complicated until you know how to do it.  So Skooch, ignore the unhelpful flak, follow the instructions and get posting!

"Why can't I copy and paste photos?"

Probably because on OGFB they are being archived in specific and relevant folders, not simply dumped into a post. So pasting into a thread would not be appropriate. Stanley and his pals are building up a vast archive on various subjects.

Quite.  That's the whole idea.  Just look at the images we have in the archive, a gold mine in the future....  Funny thing is you can one click copy pics on OG and paste them straight into an email.

When pics are posted they have to be viewed and approved by a moderator just to make sure nobody is trying to post a nasty.  I approved two pics by Gus this morning, none of yours there so someone else has approved it.  If it hasn't come up on the site let me know and we'll work out what went wrong.

It's like when you order something by mail order and they state "Allow seven weeks for delivery" but you get it two days later!
