As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

Hi Conty, my daughter is seventeen but she has been drawing for ages, she is currently doing A Level art .
Thanks for all your messages of support, Cathy, Julie and Stanley, my results are fluctuating up and down at the moment so it is a case of letting the kidney settle down plus a bit of fine tuning with the anti-rejection medication.

Whichever way you look at it, it's a bloody miracle....

It certainly is Stanley, my last transplant lasted 23 years and it is interesting to see how the anti rejection medication has developed over the years, we now have a selection to choose from as opposed to the early days when there were only a couple of fairly volatile drugs.
I recall all those years ago being given some kind of horse sterum to treat an episode of rejection!!

Conty, your Stanley sketch is lovely. I did a watercolour a few years ago  of a first world war soldier which my sister bought at a n art sale and she has it in her hall. She  has had a few compliments passed on  to me through it, Which makes me feel more confident and determind to   do more. Good luck with your competition!

I  havent done much sketching, but do like painting more. But never know quite what I will do next. It depends what mood I am in. I painted a whimsical sheep for a book illustration project.   After I  saw this funny looking  sheep on the way back from Appleby Fair . I will try to send it to Stanleyfor here.

i am getting there slowley, heres yesterdays update, though i have been working on it all day today, so things have changed a bit. none of it is anywhere near finished, apart from the eyeballs i think i may be done on them but the shading on the face and nose i have to work on loads yet so dont be horrified that the face looks wrong as it will for a bit untill it gets my full attention

so what do you think? i think stanleys original photo that i am doing is on page 18 if you want to compare

Love it! the thinking is already happening big time in that Stanley brain..I always think your pics are nearly finished then you go and surprise me by adding lots more..
Hope the distractions in Spain didn't follow you home!!!!! You have a winter of chucking and drawing ahead of you or is the chucking just a summer thing?
Blokman great to hear you are making a good recovery ...can't believe it's you second transplant...what do you do with them??

I think it is  good! you have shown the emotion  so well in his expression . Which looks to me to have a touch of sadness . the eyes are beautifully done  and the hair too. What a talent you have!

Beautiful drawing Conty, the eyes look like Stanley had just been given a smart clip round back of the head, fantastic......

Thanks Belle, its actually my third kidney, I  have suffered from renal failure since I was fourteen, my first transplant lasted a matter of weeks, the last one 23 years hopefully the new one will see me out.....
Have to say its never held me back though..

belle im still training 3 times a week and that continues all year round. the competitions dry up in the winter, well for the discus anyway as we cant throw indoors. im doing a competition on sunday for the dennet trophy in youvil throwing the discus.
drawing will have to continue as i am still doing my GCSE'S in art. The commission peice that im doing for stanley is going to take me weeks yet as i would say im not yet at half done, ive done alot today but i dont know if you would even see the difference. i will photograph it again tomorrow in the day light and see if you notice, but the shirt is a nightmare and so is the hair, so that is what takes the time to draw every single stitch and hair. but i am enjoying it. mum said the same that she thinks ive captured the sad expression and she is loving watching it come together and so was her friend today, i think she sat there for at least 3 hours watching without saying a word LOL
