As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

I got into scraperboards once at school, quite enjoyed doing them.

Now we're off on an interesting tangent..one of the Art mediums that has always fascinated me is lino cut, I would love to do it more often but I haven't looked into how to get the tools and materials . i have improvised with other things like cork tiles...the last time i used the proper tools and material, i was working with a year 7 in a primary school on their art day..everyone was a bit nervous about the health and safety issues as the cutters are extrememly sharp, but it didn't even cross my mind..all went according to plan and we produced some extremely effective tree pics, both in negative and positive..(in one the tree remained in relief and carried the paint, in the other the tree was dug out and the background carried the colour.) A great afternoon!

We did lino cuts as well. Loved the linseed oil smell of the lino squares.

just taken a picture of stanley framed. sorry but its not a great picture as the flash has left some white marks, but i think you'll get the idea..

mum is delivering the drawings tomorrow to the competition, all bubble wrapped so it will be safe. i am pleased with it, i think the frame has finished it off. hope you like it stanley!!

Oh my goodness ... (not surprisingly) it looks wonderful.
About this competition - are you able to have a short story accompanying the painting explaining the subject??
