Dried peas and smoked ribs produced their magic. It's proper peas pudding, I think I'll have a slice in a butty for breakfast!

Red Salmon Salad.
(our fourth night of Salad on the trot due to the heat. We had Chicken Salad two of the nights, and Pasta Salad another. Our appetites aren't much when it is hot.
Will have to have summat else tomorrow though, as I am out of Salad ingredients...)

Moh your cooking is always so delicious i am thinking of asking you to knock up my packed lunch for Sunday..no don't worry being gluten free I will do it myself!
One of those "hard up teas" tonight...veg soup, pork casserole, spiced stewed apples...lurvley!

While I've been attending to the site I put a bag of cubed Dexter beef in the pressure cooker, gave it an hour and then added two bags of broth mix, two chopped parsnips, three small chopped onions, a handful of sutanas, seasoning and a dash of white wine viegar. It's quietly coming up to pressure and when I get back from walking Jack it will be ready for thickening with some medium oatmeal whizzed up with the gravy before popping it back in and leaving to thicken. Cooking doesn't take a lot of time and the result will be a great thick soup/stew full of nutrition. Cheap too! I'm glad I have simple tastes in food and don't get bored with the same thing three days on the trot.

Moh, my mum used to make that for us! ee it's ages since I had onion sauce!
Been struggling with a two day migraine here, not feeling a bit like shopping or cooking, and there are only 5 onions, 2 leeks, some cheese, gluten free fish fingers, and dry pasta left in the house...looks like onion soup and some kind of fish pie at the moment.

I hope it goes away before Sunday Belle. Do onions & leeks in a white sauce add the pasta when cooked and grate cheese on top and shove under the grill!!

Me too Moh, though once I am immersed in art i usually feel no pain...what's worrying me slightly is that there is a d and v bug going round, that would stop me in my tracks! Think positive!
Didn't do the leeks in white sauce, thoughit had crossed my mind, too much like the macaroni cheese we had last night. So onion soup it was (though I did not partake), cooked the fish fingers and D brought home chips....

Belle, thank God for the chippy! Hope your head gets better.

We have a friendly back street, most of us talk to each other and yesterday afternoon, knowing that neghbour Ann had been working and loves veggie soup I gave her a shout and she brought a container across to be filled with soup, I's added another bag of broth bits rather than oatmeal thickening so there was plenty. This led to a good-natured exchange in the back street because we had been observed and I have been designated East Hill Soup Kitchen if things get really bad. Aoart from the fact I love others eating what I cook, isn't it nice to have back street exchanges like that.

That is how it used to be. Shame so many of the terraces have been demolished. Living in a village as I did, everyone knew everyone else - and their business!!
Steak pudding, chips and mushy peas tonight - real winter warmer.

Had beef stew last night and tonight I am having sausage, mash, veg and onion gravy.  My little grand daughter is coming to stay and loves sausage.  Tomorrow night I am making Lancashire Hotpot.  (I whispered that last bit) Lovely lamb chops, onions and potatoes cooked very slowly and served with peas and mint sauce.  yummy.
