Following the recent discussion about chippies in Barlick, I was wondering whether there's merit in creating a new Forum for reviews of local eating out places? And pubs? This would benefit newcomers/visitors as well as locals. I would be happy to write reviews of the local restaurants and pubs - a tedious and arduous task but someone's gotta do it The beauty of a website like OGFB is that several people could comment on the same place - one person's meat is another person's poison - so the reader would get a fair and balanced idea, unlike newspaper reviews which depend on the mood of the reviewer on just one occasion.

Heard yesterday that Zio's is not up to its previous standard with a change of chef causing problems.

Went to Bentley Wood Farm at Hapton for lunch on Thursday. Its a Brewers Fayre type place but the food is palatable and reasonably priced and the service is excellent. Very smart and clean and would recommend for a good value lunch in pleasant surroundings. Nolic

Well I thought it was really good both the food and service Nolic.  The tiramisu was fantastic!! This is my favourite sweet and I have had some very bad ones and some very good ones and I have to say that one last night at Zio's was fantastic!!

Nolic I used to go to Da Giorgio's regular many years ago but I thought I heard that it had either shut down or it had gone very down hill.  I am presuming from your comments this is not correct.

Mrs Nolic's friend must have been there on an off night then. Sounds like reputation restored.
Daughter and boyfriend went to Da Giorgioes a few weeks ago and were very impressed. Last time I went I'd imbibed a litte beforehand so I would have been impressed with anything! Nolic

Went to the Bay Horse in Fence for tea tonight. Had cricket chicken followed by banoffee cheesecake. Excellent meal, excellent company.

I also had Cricket Chicken and Orange & Chocolate Cheesecake at the Bay Horse and that was lovely....as it always is there, and not forgetting the fantastic company.

I think a visit to Georgio's is necessary.

I went to the Village in Bury last night for a Robbie Williams tribute night and that was fairly good food as well.

Tomorrow I am off to see Dancing on Ice at the MEN, no food there though and Blood Brothers on Monday night.  Seen that before - its fab.

It's Chicken done in coriander, garlic and chili. "Cricket Chicken" is just the name the Bay gave to it.
