Came across this in our local paper in letters to the editor:-
Whilst on holiday over Christmas (NZ), I came across a new idea to cook for large crowds,It's the latest craze with some of South Auckland's immigrant community.
Instead of using the frypan or oven to cook fish, they are using the dishwasher. Simply wrap up the desired amount of fish in tinfoil and place them in the dishwasher racks and turn the dishwasher onto the dry cycle. The hot steam cooks the fish to perfection.
How about that for Kiwi ingenuity.

Oh really? (we are off to NZ shortly but I don't think I fancy that GAK.)

Febby went fishing with a mate over New Year and they caught a load of Garfish. Thankfully his mate is a dab hand at filleting! I do a beer batter (plain flour, salt, half a can of beer).....it is ever so yummy. We only have one meal of Garfish left, so we will enjoy that one night next week.

Fish needs very little cooking. A favourite recipe for kippers was to simply drop them in a jug of boiling water. I regularly cook fish in the microwave, the only cooking I do in it. Just pop the fish in a closed casserole with the usual condiments, opil and lemon juice etc. and blast on high, you soon learn how long is needed. Lovely results.

About 2 or 3 mins, put it in milk and slam it in the microwave. I know this because the wonderful wetherby whaler when it learned I was gluten intolerant provided me with this alternative to go with my chips, delicious, and now our local chippy has agreed to do the same, it's no problem for them and it means I can enjoy the occassional fish supper (oops scottish) without having to spend hours picking off the batter, by which time the chips are usually stone cold.

I'm picking that the large crowds referred to, will be half the street, and could easily run into thirty or forty people.
this would surely stretch a microwave cooker, what do you say?

I poach Salmon in the frying pan with the lid on, to which is addeda small amount of milk, a knob of butter and various herbs (my own blend of Tarragon,Parsley, Dill, Black Pepper and Chives). When the fish is cooked, I whisk the liquid into a lovely White Sauce to pour over the fish. We both enjoy it this way.
