Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society

The Leeds to Liverpool Canal links many of the towns and villages of the area covered by the Pendle and Burnley Branch of the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society. The Canal, together with the Railways, the Coalmines and the Weaving Sheds helped to create the economic environment that drew most of our ancestors to this part of the County

Branch Resources
The Reference Books, the Memorial Cards and the Microfiche are housed with the Local History Collection at Colne Library. These are available for public viewing during normal Library opening hours and by Members at any Branch Meeting (most 3rd and 5th Wednesday evenings).
Books
- A List of the Branch holdings in a category related order .. new acquisitions are shown at the top of the page.

Memorial Cards, Silk Ribbons & Press Cuttings
- A collection of mementoes donated to the Family History Society, recording the deaths of family members, friends and relatives.

Microfiches (society transcriptions and indexes)
- A List of the Branch holdings in category related order, with any new titles shown at the beginning of each section. All these microfiche are produced from local Branch project work and published by the Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society. Most, if not all of the Microfiche listed can be purchased from the Society - contact Dorothy Haworth.

Microfiches (filmed parish registers & the local 1901 census)
- A List of the Branch holdings in town/church order. These Microfiche are produced from filmed Parish Register Books from Lancashire County Record Office.

Pedigrees (the Doreen Crowther collection of Family Pedigrees)
- Documents referring to many local family surnames, held by Colne Library in the Reserve Stockroom for REFERENCE ONLY. These are not a Society resource, but are listed here for convenience
The following Computer Databases and CD-ROMs can be usually be interrogated at Branch Meetings (most 3rd and 5th Wednesday evenings).
CD-ROMs
- A List of currently held CD-ROMs available to be viewed on the Branch Computer.

Computer Databases
- A List of the Parish Records and Other databases available for searching on the Branch Computer.
