I went up Letcliffe today in the sunshine with the birds singing and only a light breeze from the NW to spoil things so I decided you were right and it's probably about time we started to be optimistic. However..... have you seen the forecast for Easter?

It was 'fabulous' when I posted in the morning - but spoilt be evening although it took up again. Dull today, but so far dry. A sneaky wind though.

Yesterday I washed a special top for my daughter - a thin cardiigan - hung it on a coathanger to dry, left it overnight, checked it about midday today , still not dry so I ironed it 'dry' for her (she has a date tonight) still not dry so I put it in front of the heater (inside out, right way out, repeat - you know the drill), it was finally pronounced dry about 15 mins before she went out.... Phew! yes, it's wet, wet, wet here.
All thru the fields and meadows gay .... Enjoy Take Care...Cathy |

Dull and warm this morning. I changed the bedding, and did a load ( or should I say 3 loads) of washing, hung it out and down came the rain. I am waiting to see if it stops before I put the towels out. The rest is too wet now to bother bringing it inside for the moment. Bob is building something in his workshop, I can hear hammers and drills. I am abit stuck for something top do. I may practice some drawing

We had a dry day in Barlick but when I was woken at 02:30 this morning by the twin challenges of Jack being sick on the duvet and a party across the way it was siling down with rain. Definitely wellies for the early morning walk......
Is Bob building an Ark?

If Bob is building an ark, tell him to stop off by Norfolk on the way. 20 meters above sea level and sinking fast.
Measure with a micrometer. Mark with a pencil. Cut with an axe. |

The ARK turned out to be a new workbench and some units in the laundry room , sorry Julie. Can you swim?

Are you expecting some-one then Stanley? How's the dog? What caused the vomiting?
I must say our weather was quite acceptable today....I got most of the washing dry and just had to finish the towels etc in the dryer (tho one must expend all that energy hanging them out and retrieving them). Have spent a lot of energy hoovering up dog hair today too...son and pooch came for dinner last night and I couldn't believe the hair that appeared when I opened the curtains this morning.

Jack is OK. As with so many cases like this it was all my fault. I was feeding him too much meat and not enough fibre. I have doubled the amount of biscuit and halved the meat. We'll see how he gets on but I've already achieved a hard stool which is what I was after. Killing with kindness, a common story with feeding animals and even an old dog like me can fall into the trap.
On the weather forecast this morning they had a first. They blamed the southerly position of the jet stream for the unseasonable weather. I have suspected this all along and it looks as though they are becoming more certain of the effects. Not good news if it is a permanent change, more of the same and it makes you wonder what it will do for winter weather......

Paper says it looks like being the wettest August for a centuary - you were right Stanley when you said we would have lots of rain. Saving the good weather for when you come Maz.!!

Although we are in Somerset we've had to fire up the log burner the last few evenings. Not just for our comfort but to keep the old parts of the house dry. At this mild time of year the damp can set off mould growth and suddenly you have green walls if you're not careful.

Surprisingly it has rained all day here...and looks set to continue...yes, ok, it is no surprise as it has rained every day for nearly a month now, at least where I've been...I am trying to be hopeful about this weather, but it's not easy... I am reassuring myself with the fact that this is an "el nino" year and the weather is always erratic in El nino years as we follow a path closer to the sun....no I am not really that knowledgelable about it, but it helps me from jumping to the conclusion that this is global warming and the pattern has been set for years to come!
