What ever ....it is a wonderful item. It was funny in its original form, but with the addition of the bits of clips from all over the place, it is even better now. The sad thing for me was that Val Doongans series of "Hello" s has been lost. But Roy Rogers and de Gaulle still made me laugh out loud.....again.

Comrade, look at this way, anything is better than the crap you are getting now. I promise you it will be like coming out of gaol and you'll get a better daily rate than any time in your life doing consultancy work, the expenses can be put against tax as well! One thing I found was that when I got to the stage they caught me for VAT I could claim on everything I was using as long as I had receipts for it. Thank god I saved all the paperwork, I got a very handy refund.

Bradders, don't worry, the Oneguy Link-fairies are always at hand.

I liked the attitude of the bloke up for chairman of the FA who chucked his application up because he said he couldn't work with people he doesn't trust. Not always possible of course but I like the principle.

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm going to make use of my 40+ years with one bank and seek their advice on self employment and tax. I hope your'e right about the getting out of gaol bit Comrade because I've really upset the warders in the past few weeks.  Nolic

Hi Nolic,
A couple of books on Antiques for Xmas may be a good investment then you can tour the auctions looking for bargains !!!!

I can highly recommend semi retirement,/retirement good thing about contracting is someone else is always above you,to make the Final Decsion. That tends to be a fact of life the Boss is not normally a contractor !!!!!

"...when I got to the stage they caught me for VAT I could claim on everything I was using as long as I had receipts for it."

There are people nowadays who would hold a protest outside your house screaming "Tax avoidance!"

Frank, I'd had the same thought about auctions but Cath might have other ideas. I think I've a fair chance of working almost full time but we'll have to see. Nolic
