The old topic was getting unwieldly and might have been affecting members with slow connections.

A friend of mine is making a film for the Houston Police in Texas. She saw this piece of Xmas cheer in the homicide department.

Warnings on BBC news this morning about `contaminated vodka' being on sale in Britain. This news gets wheeled out at regular intervals but nothing much seems to be done about the overall problem.

BBC, 23 August 2008
Contaminated vodka found in shops
"Bottles of fake vodka, containing potentially harmful levels of methanol, have been found in shops in Bristol..."

BBC, 6 October 2010
Warning after contaminated vodka found in Hastings
"Contaminated vodka found in a shop in an East Sussex town has led to a warning from trading standards..."

BBC, 17 August 2011
Fears over content of fake vodka in Scunthorpe
"Bottles of fake vodka seized from a shop in North Lincolnshire contained high levels of "chemical" alcohol and may cause abnormal side effects, it is feared..."

BBC, 28 December 2011
Chloroform found in illicit vodka in Staffordshire
"Fake vodka containing chloroform has been seized during counterfeit alcohol checks across the West Midlands..."

Remember my story of `Godron's' Gin?

Uncontaminated Vodka is fairly bad for your health and well being anyway.  If I was selling dodgy Vodka I think I would just get the fancy bottles and labels and add plain water no one would particulary notice.

I almost forgot! What grabbed my attention yesterday was a nice phone call from Shirley Windle (as was). We had a good half hour nattering about the old days at the garage. She is well, sounds very chipper and is still driving. She called because her daughter had printed out some of the stuff about Harry Watson landing his plane on the unfinished New Road she found on the site. She didn't know about Stanley's View and I think the BET has another new customer. Nice contact and good to know she is still batting!

Daily Mail

"Four members of the same family have been found shot dead in a horrific bloodbath"

Surely when the bath was installed the authorities should have been informed about it. Should not the sale of these baths be banned, or, at the very least, be subject to licence.

I think it is hilarious.

Not the killing, but the way the Daily Mail reports everything in its trite, "sensational", lazy way  and in doing so bastardises our language.

It has become so common place that some people have become inured to it.

I think you could have picked a less tragic story to illustrate your contempt of the Daily Mail Catty, Jeremy Clarkson would have struggled to get it as wrong!
