Hi all how are things? I came upon this site purely by chance, I decided to google my Grandfathers name 'Bob King' and I found a number of posts and discussions he was involved in. My name is Evan and I am the son of John King, Bob Kings son. I had a close  relationship with him so this was pretty cool to find a website that some of his friends are a part of.

Regards,

Evan

Evan, welcome.

Your grandfather posted under the name Hatepe so a seach under that might reveal even more posts. Nolic

PS. I've just done a search that brings up 324 references to Hatepe so happy reading.

Your grandfather and I discovered a genealogical connection going back to the 1880s at the Anchor Inn in Salterforth

Try a Google search: 'hatepe oneguyfrombarlick' which makes it site specific. I don't know a way of finding his posts better than this. Also, other keywords that will find him on Google with the sitename: Dotcliffe, fire bug, Spring Mill, all subjects Bob posted on.

Cheers, will do. I have been reading some of his posts. Reminds me alot of some of his stories he used to tell of home and of his escapades.

Yes we do miss him - I knew him when I was a little girl and lived up Dotcliffe Road when he did.  He became manager of Dotcliffe Mill which was a weaving mill - cotton etc. where my parents worked.  He moved into the cottage in Dotcliffe Road where my grandparents had lived.   I was pleased to find him on here and we exchanged some great private messages talking of old times and the people we knew.  We were all devastated when he had his accident - especially as he had been telling us how much he enjoyed living in Hawkes Bay.  Welcome to the site - hope you enjoy reading about him.

For another reference to Bob look at the three articles in 'Stanley's View' called 'War Story'. Stanislaw was a Polish worker who knew Bob and he gets a mention.
