I love painting and am a local amateur painter have got an N.V.Q. Level 4. I sell locally but not recently. I work as an Art technican, which involves allsorts really! I think more should be done in schools as painting is a good way of helping children communicate and deal with stress, adults too !

Ahhhh, you artists are so entertaining....... The biggest things about posting pics are 1, get the size and format right. 2.don't try to cross post from another site on the web, post the original scan. 3. Do it at 6 in the morning when site is fast.

Very vivid colours and nice wet in wet. I like the Slater Tce picture, very easily recognised. Nolic

Thanks Nolic! like doing wet on wet and painting on silk . Thanks to Stanley for putting these on. I havent really done any buidings much but plan to do some again , these are really early ones! There are some lovely buildingsaround and Slater Terrace had a beauty of its own. people who worked and lived there a hundred years ago wouldnt have thougt so.One of my own ancestors owned the bolt works not far from this terrace. I myself had a hairdressers shop not too far from it too! That was in the late sixties, how times have changed. I remember the ladies coming in from the mills, some could lip read whilst under the hairdryer. So you had to be careful if you talked about them! |

Vee has asked me to add the following two pictures. One is of a card she made and the other is the box and wraparound she made to put it in. She gives her apologies for it taking her so long to take the pics but she has been drunk since discussing it on this topic last week. (Only joking!!)

Mel obviously thinks she is funny, because she must have been drinking all day.
Anyway I have put thses pictures on to show Sue and Moh the kind of cards I make (as per this thread about a week ago). As I write this I am covered in glitter making cards. Sorry the pictures are very bad (it's coz Mel is no good with technology), no seriously it's because they were taken on a phone not a camera.

I really must give it a try. I kept my Christmas cards as you suggested, but am annoyed with myself as I have BOUGHT 4 cards this afternoon. I should be making them. My excuse is I am cooking as we have friends for a meal tonight, and I had to clean the house in honour of their visit!!!!!
Seriously, how long does it take to make a crd from start to finish including thinking things out
Sue
PS I have been known to have the odd tipple too

Every card is different but this one took a VERY long time. Also as you have discovered it can be very expensive. I have got loads of stuff/equipment and I would hate to guess how much it all costs. I nipped to the shop today for a few bits and spend £85 and to look at it there was nothing there.
This card was actually for a birthday but I have done a similar one for a golden wedding anniversary but obviously in gold. I have also done a ruby wedding anniversay in red.
This is only one style of card.

Sue, boring people have clean houses.
when I made my wedding invites (the only cards I've ever made) I knew exactly what design I wanted. I made my mind up about that months before. The actual construction was really simple, it had to be being a complete novice, it took me probably 5 or 10 minutes per card....15 towards the end of the bottle.
I suppose over time your stock of bits and pieces grows. It's the initial gathering together of stuff that's costly.
