More pics from the archive. Filling in some of the smaller streets around the town centre. Enjoy...

I said on the caption this was 2005 but it isn't, it's 2003.

John Northage refurbishing the little building in Station Road that I bought in 1979 because nobody was looking after it. We did it up, I lent it to the optician next door while he did his office up and then I sold it for just enough to clear all the expenses. It has been continuously occupied ever since.

And again in 1979. That corner of station road down to Forester's Buildings is such a wonderful little jumble of housing. A very old part of the town, much older than the present buildings I suspect.

Station Road Corner in 1979. Sows the lean on the little building that frightened everyone off.

Great pictures Stanley.  The one of Station road reminded me of something which has been puzzling me for some time.

Back in May you posted a copy of a map (Ellis St area - 1892) which shows Station road continuing on the north east side of the railway (now Wellhouse Rd).  Do you know when and why the road was renamed?
