From a technical point of view, it is very hard to get someone's email address from this site using an automated process. In your control panel you have the option of hiding your email address which I suggest you do. Otherwise it will be on display to anyone who takes the trouble of registering and then going through all the individual profiles.
Another way of obtaining your email address is if you post it in a topic, this way even email scavenger robots can collect the data.
At lease the bogus mail was flagged early enough and I do hope that none of you OGFB'ers fell for it...except for Calluna of course....Awwww ain't she a sweety

All good fun but you would be amazed how many people have fallen for this scam and others like it. Punch 'Nigerian Scam' in on Google. I regularly get mail from banks asking me to check my account details on their website. The link you get takes you to a copy of the bank's website and Bingo, they are in business. Remember, your bank will never ask for your details only identification, never give even that unless you have contacted them by a means that you are sure is genuine. I haven't had the email yet, or if I did I have automatically deleted it.
I've said this before but at the risk of boring you I'll repeat it. I use Outlook Express and I never have the preview pane open because if you highlight a mail it automatically opens and you get any nasties contained in it. Instead of the preview pane do this f you want to examine mail.
Right click on it and select properties from the drop down menu; click on 'message' tab at the top; then click on 'message properties' box at the bottom. This opens the mail but in a way that doesn't allow it to execute any nasties. Decide then if you want it or not. If not, delete and empty your deleted messages box. I never open a mail unless I have a clear idea of who sent it and this way is a good way of finding out.

I'm beginning to suspect that Frankie has been less than truthful with me.This morning my bank account was $4,500,000.00 in the red, which is slightly more than it usually is, and he hasn't acknowledged the email I sent him with all my bank and credit card details. Perhaps it got lost in the ether. Ah well, I'll just put it down to experience. |

My duffle bag is very heavy this afternoon. I looked in the top and there could almost be $4,500,000.00 in it. I tried spending some in the restuarant but they only take sterling, not sure what to do with it now; do we have Frankie's bank details so I can give it back to him......
