As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

They say that when a person has a gift that isn't nurtured, developed and passed on, it will just keep knocking on your door until it is, so don't worry Conty, your art will always be with you.   Smile

thanks everyone for you helpful comments, im trying to ignore him which is easy really, nice bloke but just rubbish at teaching!! roll on september
although mum and dad were pissed off with me, after seeing the headmaster and the art teacher they can see what ive been telling them is the truth (teachers rubbish) so they are cool and understand my lack of interest in art at the moment, and i hope you guys are right that it will stay with you as i do really love to draw and would love to do much more in the future
a local art/craft shop has asked me to do some art work and have said they would like to display it and sell it !! just havent got the time at the moment but its something to think about

Keep the faith and pyrsue your own course. Don't let the bastards grind you down. In the end it will all work out. Mission Impossible is always more fun that boring routine acceptance. Hrder row to hoe but more rewarding in the end.

Conty you have a fantastic future ahead of you, drawing babies is extremely difficult because their features are soft and half formed...rarely have I seen anyone achieve a result as good as yours. Believe  me people will pay good money for sensitive accurate drawings like this, don't get discouraged by the strudture of exams, when you have natural talent no one cares whether you passed exams or not.

I would guess your problem with your teacher is perhaps that he is jealous of your ability.

Conty, you'll come across incompetants in authority throughout your life. Just recognise that you know what you're doing and play along with their game. Nolic

Art is an interesting thing...there's those who have it in them and those who learn it.. and for some it's not about ability but expression...for me that's a cop out for those who can't draw...I'm with Brian Sewel on thisone...the Tracey Emmins of this world are just cashing in on the "emporers new clothes" phenomenon.   Sadly like so many of the Arts, fine art has been rather overtaken by these fraudsters...and in order to sell their rubbish they have to run down anyone with ability and pass it off as too conservative, not fashionable enough etc. I am hoping the current recession will hit hard enough to weed out some of this "life style Guru" crud....real artists are nearly always poor whilst their alive!
