If anybody thinks they may have Huguenot ancestors, I have on CD a list of Huguenot Refugees and their Descendents in Great Britain & Ireland from France in the reign of Louis XIV and List of Foreign Protestants & Aliens Resident in England 1618-1688.

It is possible to fully search the CD by surname and I am willing to look up any surnames to see if and when they appear.

Hello
Ive just joined this site after looking for Huguenot information.
Also just found your offer to look up surnames of possible Huguenot ancestors.
Thats very kind of you, and I hope that you still have your CD with info on it.
My possible family name is Oliver, which was meant to have been changed from Olivier.
There is a story in the family that they came from France Huguenot ancestors, the earliest person I have is Robert Oliver born around 1810 and who lived in the Channel Island of Herm.  I dont know where he was born, and when he died although again a family story is that he died at sea.
I dont know how far back I would need to go to find the actual immigrant ancestor, but at least I have a start.
Im hoping you have some info, however small, on the Oliver / Olivier family.  They were meant to have been fishermen, but Robert (above) was listed on the 1841 census as a copper miner.
Thank you for your offer and I look forward to hearing more.
Smile

Hello Crizza and welcome to the site. I'm sure some of the family history members will be along soon to discuss your ancestors. Copper mining in the Channel Islands, that's new to me, I suppose I've never really thought about mining there before. I looked on the Internet and found mention of mining copper on Herm on this site:

Hi, I think my French ancestors may have been Huguenots and wondered if you would kindly look for the surname Verdeille on your cd of Huguenot refugees.

Many thanks.

Kippax from Colne and west Yorkshire, probably from the place-name in west Yorkshire - often thats the case, could be wrong though.
