Just in case anyone thinks you are refering to the state of my house, i will clarify: I have a drawer of kitchen gadgets! so nice of you to think of me!

Thank you for the clarification! I was wondering what Maz knew that we don't! Glass steady at 29.4 but a dull, cool morning.
Maz. Margaret says they are having some nice weather, she says you will be getting it shortly.

Re-run of yesterday, glass still on 29.4" but perhaps tending to fall slightly

Was not referring to the state of your house, Belle. Merely kitchen gadgets. (though it sounds as though you have a guilty conscience to me)
Better weather has not arrived yet, Stanley. Chilly here.

Maz, just noticed that the heating kicked in for ten minutes! That means it was below 18C in the house. Sun has come out but it was chilly early on.

Clear sky and cold night for the time of year. Normally one would expect the glass to rise but it's fallen back to 29". Funny weather and not summery at all.

It turned out quite nice yesterday, enough sun to warm things up despite the wind being in the NW. Glass steady on 20", same again today? Wind still in NW.

My daughter is off to Darwin (and Kakadu) for 2wks with a group of friends, hopefully the 30C up there will get rid of her winter ailments. I'm looking forward to hear of her adventures, but not the day she goes down river in a boat, the river is a home to crocodiles!!
All thru the fields and meadows gay .... Enjoy Take Care...Cathy |

Maz and Cath, glad your weather is warming a bit. I agree about the crocs!
Yesterday turned out nice again and NW wind dropped. Glass up slightly at 29.2", mild, overcast and dry outside. Could be the same again but perhaps a bit warmer. House is warmer on the non-sunny side.
07:00. back from the morning walk. Very light mizzle but not cold. Growy morning! (Might as well look on the bright side!)

Well, I have to report that it is a very bizarre summer in Europe. Wet and cold nearly everywhere. Snow in the Alps over the last couple of days. In Southern Italy more like September than end of July. The town of Campobasso did not get above 18 C. yesterday, which is unheard of.
cheers,

I spent the weekend in Matlock in Derbyshire. The weather was a "topcoat warmer" as you might say. Only 90miles down the road and quite a difference, cloudless skies and wall to wall sunshine. Went further down to Stratford on Avon on Monday to pick grandaughter Ruby and her sister Neve up for a short holiday "up North" and it was different again. 27 degrees when we left Stratford for the journey home yesterday afternoon. Not as warm this morning in Barlick.

It got out eventually yesterday and the evening was pleasantly warm. Looks about the same today but cloud perhaps more broken. Glass is up again at 29.5" Could be a pleasant day but definitely not blazing summer!

Yesterday was very odd, in the morning we went out and were complaining we should have brought coats as it was so cold. Came back around twelve and when i went to hang the washing out it was so hot I couldn't bear it on my head..nearly had to go inside for a hat to finish the job! How could it go up by so many degrees in the space of half an hour!
