Copy of E-mail received yesterday.

About a year ago, I was walking home at lunchtime from Gisburn Road Nursery Barnoldswick with my son. We started to walk past Cravenside old peoples home when I noticed a young man crossing the path to Cravenside next to the grass, he looked and smiled at me, he was carrying a brown paper bag.

I just remember thinking what a lovely warm friendly smile he had as he went off for his dinner(what I presumed was in the bag), then without taking my eyes off him he vanished. I never said anything to my son as he was only 4 at the time.

It wasn't until he vanished that I realised he must have been a ghost, and when I started to recall more detail in my mind I remembered that his clothes were greyish brown and dusty looking(at the time of sighting I just thought builders apprentice) afterwards I'd say more Victorian or 20's/30's.

I have later found out this used to be the coal yard where the old peoples home now stands, maybe he was a young man who lost his life there, or maybe he comes back in spirit to the coal yard because he was at his happiest, when he worked there?

If you can possibly shed any light on this story I would be grateful. contact me joannacw@supanet.com

Thanks.
Joanna Warrington.

Oh I think I'd go with Oilcans suggestion.

Are you worried/nervous Marcia?

Mostly about being cold, Mel :)  I will be packing a sleeping bag and two jumpers just in case.

And yes, I have some alcoholic-type spirits to fortify me - I may even take some Lithuanian mead :)

One of the great things about ghosts is that there is no proof they exist one way or another.  I have had very realistic hallucinations from time to time when very short of sleep or under great stress.  In recent years, quantum mathematics has indicated that there may be more than one universe and this means that there could be different dimensions.  None of this proved or disproved but I believe that there is a lot out there that we don't understand yet, only a fool will discount the possibillity completely.  I will never rubbish anyone who sincerely believes they have seen something.  Have you ever read Oscar Wilde's short story 'The Canterville Ghost'?  Fiction, but a lovely story and well worth seeking out.

Well had thought of booking Monks House on my upcoming trip..but maybe not...I prefer live company.

In Toronto there have been several stories some may be true some bunk.  A friend of mine who actually was a serious candidate for mayor, told me a story that in their house they would here the piano at night, one night they actually caught/saw an old lady playing, they asked her who she was and she told them, and where she lived.  When they checked with the city they found that the name and address checked out with old records.  In an historic site in Toronto (Todmorden Mills) they would leave the lights on at night, many mornings they would find the lights off, and in fact the light bulbs removed.  When I was 10 years old in Barlick my mother and I heard a loud bang in the front yard (19 King St.), looked out on the street and there was nothing, this was about 10.30 at night.  The next morning I went to my grandmothers on Gisburn St. and found her dead in bed, time of death was eventually set as about 10.30 the night before.  Watch out halloween is coming!

Very funny, I liked it.  Hasn't happened since.  Doesn't bother me either way, but my fingers are crossed.

Hi, im new and in reading this thread like Cathy do sense things! I feel im guided from people  that  have passed over . Two years ago  when looking after a  year old baby and getting her ready for bed giving her, her nightime bottle. A voice came clearly  from the baby monitor " Night , night little thing twice" was said in a female voice?
