Triggered by your ham and pea soup. Boiled a big shank and got some good meat. Boiled my dried peas down using juice off the ham and burned them to the bottom of the pan! Luckily I had the ham separate. Ham butties today!

Roast chicken tonight with roast potatoes and veg. I wish a few more would join in this topic then we could get some new ideas like Panbikers cheese topped beef casserole.

Cooking/deciding what is for dinner is becoming very irksome here Moh. Hubby has cut down his meals to the point where it is barely worth making more than a Salad Sandwich for dinner. (I was so sick of Salads that I made a Chicken Canelloni for dinner last night, but he hardly touched it and I wasn't that interested either. Waste of effort really.) Neither of us are that interested in food when it is hot. So it is boring old Salad again tonight....and I might do a couple of Patties with it (I dont mind eating those cold from the fridge if I get nibbly). I'm beginning to see little point in walking the entire supermarket each week, when all we eat is Salad.

Piece of pork cooked in cider in PC and juice cooled overnight in fridge. Slimmed fat off thei morning and juice in with the dried peas to make pease pudding. I am cooking them very slowly and not under pressure so I can keep an eye on them!

Moh, your wish is my command...home made bolognaise last night, sweated an onion, a large clove of garlic, some red pepper finely chopped, small carrot, and quarter of a stick of celery in olive oil. Added mince (just under a pound i think) and browned, added finely choped mushrooms, water, tomato puree, and fresh basil. seasoned with lashing of black pepper and some salt. Simmered slowly for an hour, bought a pan of salted water to the boil and cooked my spaggetti, then just before serving I stirred two tespoons of garlic cream cheese into the sauce...mmm delish! Enough left for baked pots filling tonight, with coleslaw ..if i want to ring up the changes the sauce can be chillied and a can of beans added.

Moh, your meals always sound so wonderful...mine seem very boring in comparison. Beef stew last night, served with cabbage and baked tatties. Enough left for another meal, so I might add some mushrooms and make a pie.

Thankyou ladies - that sauce sounds yummy Belle (minus the mushrooms for me!). Although we don't like spaghetti it will be good on other things - will try it. Cold chicken tonight here.

Maz. Constant vigilance and stirring did the trick. I have my pease pudding! Lovely on dry bread with sliced pork.

Used the other half of the sauce, well it was less than half actually, added chillie powder, cumin, (not huge amounts, just a gentle heat!) water, a few more mushrooms and uncooked rice, brought it to the boil and put in an oven for an hour untill the rice has absored the water and is soft (add more water needed.) small baked pot. to accomany and home made coleslaw (cabbage thinly sliced and chooped, carrot grated, and sliced raw leek in mayo)

Chicken Fraitas (spelling?) tonight - it was a big chicken. Cost £6 - we had two evening meals and two sandwiches off it, plus tonight, and the legs are in the freezer. Good Value or what?

Yes I bought one at sainsbury's around christmas time, 4.99 feeds 8, it certainly did, and was such good value I have another in the freezer for the next family meal, or a week when we have no cash at all!

Gammon, jacket potatoes and mushy peas tonight. Hubby loved the Fajitas - I found them very fiddly but tasty.
