Thank you for allowing me here it looks a great site just joined tonight.

After 3 years of doing my family tree and nearly 2000 people on it I am hoping for some local information. The earliest  confirmed Proctor I have is William b abt 1806 not sure exactly where born but local and resident in Lothersdale as a Blacksmith who married Sarah Pickles on the 4 Jan 1821.

After 4 children William, Edwin, Francis and  the last being Moorhouse Proctor in 1833 shortly after the birth of Moorhouse Sarah sadly passed away.

I have found records for Moorhouse (with difficulty) with another family and the other children William, Edwin and Francis also with another family. William b 1824 moved to Bury lancs married Sarah Greenhalgh and had children.

I am having trouble locating William snr after this, I have scanned ancestry records and I have come up with a possible 3 within the period 1803 - 1806.

A William Proctor was convicted of Sheep Stealing on the 28 March 1835 and sentenced at York to  transportation to Van Deiman's Land (Tasmania), a record on the 14 May shows him on the ship Leviathan in Portsmouth and also shows he died on the 25 May on that ship.

I wondered if any local historians had any information on this incident?

The other 2 possible William Proctor's went abroad I think 1 to the US and 1 to Australia I am in the process of messaging them to try to find out more information.

If anybody has any information on this I would be very grateful.

Thankyou

Robert Proctor

There is a Samuel Proctor married Sarah Moorhouse at Kildwick in 1775 but the only children I can find Is Ann and Sarah. The Moorhouse connection is there Moorhouse being the brother of William. If I could find a child William that would wrap it up possibly.

 Thx
