Following the recent discussion about chippies in Barlick, I was wondering whether there's merit in creating a new Forum for reviews of local eating out places? And pubs? This would benefit newcomers/visitors as well as locals. I would be happy to write reviews of the local restaurants and pubs - a tedious and arduous task but someone's gotta do it The beauty of a website like OGFB is that several people could comment on the same place - one person's meat is another person's poison - so the reader would get a fair and balanced idea, unlike newspaper reviews which depend on the mood of the reviewer on just one occasion.

I heard about this delay on Radio 5 earlier, apparantley the motorway has only just re-opened and that is only 1 lane.

I don't think what I was stuck in was the cause for the closure. The closure was between J14 & J15. I get on at J15. I think the accident also happened after I returned home as there were no reports on the radio or the internet for a god while after I got in.

I've been and collected my marriage permit instead, spent the day shopping for curtains for France. (Got none!) Almost got stuck in the traffic that was avoiding the M6 closure in the process but took a few back lanes to miss it.

Oilcan, Imindoors doesn't refer to me as a woman...I'm a bloke with bumps apparently.

Doc will have done it via the Admin options just to put it back onto the homepage after he rescued the deleted files.

Ok. It's not the first time this has happened though. Thinking about it...it may only be when you, Doc or Stanley 'post'.

Can recommend Consiton Hall Hotel Gargrave for a special meal. Bit expensive but lovely dining room.

Hi eveyone,

Thanks for all the welcome notes and Birthday Wishes yesterday.

I would like to say I did some market research just for all of you  yesterday......but that would be a lie.  I went to The Three Fishes at Mitton for lunch and it was fantastic!!  I would recommend it to anyone.  I had loads:- Mushroom Soufflé, Fish Pie and Chocolate & Orange Pudding with Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.  It was lovely!! It was really difficult market research.........the difficult things I do to make friends with you all, I hope you all appreciate me and the effort I went to!

Then I decided I needed to work some of it off and went looking for realtives in grave yards.  Once of a day I would have said I was crazy, coz I actually enjoy it.  My friends think its odd, me wandering round grave yards,  but I enjoy the fresh air, the walk, history, art and research.  Having now found this website I realise that I am not the only person who is inspired and motivated by these things.

Anyway it was back to reality today....back to work....oh joy.

Cheerio for now

Vee

V, what were prices like at 3 Fishes? Its run by the same guy who owns Northcote Manor and only Nandy Gigglepants can afford to eat there. Nolic

I don't think it was too bad for a treat.  I was going to go to Fence Gate because they serve the same sort of stuff, but it was far more expensive there.  The Northcote Manor is very expensive.

I have attached the link for the menu (I hope that's ok).

Nandy Gigglepants is another member, otherwise known as Andy Diamond. He's the local loanshark I believe.

I must leap to the defence of Nandy Gigglepants, (OFAL Hon Member).  He is not a loanshark, just a very astute business-man who is always willing to help out any of his mates who experience temporary pecuniary embarrassment.  Rumours of horse's heads in beds, baseball bats and late night calls are totally unproven.

I don't know, I think that looks very reasonable for what seems well-sourced produce from specialist producers. Goosnargh is well known for its fowls, but they don't come cheap 'cos they don't pack 'em in, so to speak. Kirkham's Lancashire cheese is from a small craft producer, not one of the big dairy chains.
