As there seems to be quite a bit of artistic talent around here, I thought I would start a pencil sketch section .....

im finding it fascinating too, all i can say is i have never been anything but honest.
if someone wants to read more into it...  then theres nothing i can do about it, its their minds doing the work not mine.

the thing that i do love about art, is just that, in a way. we all love or loath different art works, some i think are awful can be wonderful to someone else, boring to me can be mellow and relaxing to someone else. and thats fine. thats what its about, just our own taste. and does it matter what the artist was thinking when he produced his work?  if its on your wall, you purchased it because you liked it.

Now that you have closed in and done the lace, I actually find the pic less suggestive and it is lovely to see all your fine work on the lace, i also like the very fine detail in the body hair.

I have not heard of that approach to art before but it makes sense of you are going to make a living out of it, many famous writers set aside days or portions of days when they  must write whether or not the "muse" is with them.

i want to try and make a living at it, with me setting aside saturdays it means i have time to concentrate just on drawing, i dont always like that fact if my girlfriend wants me to do something with her but i can see my parents point of veiw, they do help me out alot and they say they dont mind as long as i am at least trying to get an art career off the ground, they wont support me if i am not trying myself. so whatever me and my girlfriend want to do we arrange after tea, as if i had a job. fair deal i think

edit... so i will have some updates later

It's all about doing your best  'in the moment'  Conty, that's all you really have.  I'm sure someone like you has a girlfriend who has her own things happening as well.  The future will reward you with all sorts of things, not just monetery.  (You've already received some of these things, and there will be much more to come.)
Your'e definately on the right track.   Smile

Conor, it's called 'time management' and it's the key to getting things done. All art and writing is 85% bench job and you have to have a routine in order to be productive. I get up early, get site and mails out of the way and on average I'm writing by 6am. I do about five hours solid then a three mile walk and spend the afternoon reading or workshop. Seven days a week it adds up, I probably do more actual work than most full-time workers if time logs were compared. Sounds mechanistic I know but it suits me and I get things done. The old fashioned word for it is discipline and it will serve you well. The reward comes at the end of the day when you look back at what has been accomplished, all right, I'm driven, I admit it. Let's hear it for obsession!

Conor, Keith Fenwick "The Art Doctor" says that art is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. Like Stanley said learning to discipline yourself now will always stand you in good stead. Nolic
