Does anyone out there know anything about Henry Nutter, who wrote the poem 'The maid in a calico dress' which was set to music by Gerry Kearns of the Olham Tinkers?

I am trying to find out when it was written.  I believe that Henry Nutter was from Burnley, but can not find out anything else about him.

Any info gratefully appreciated.

Shazza.

BarrowfordJohn- Thanks a million!!!!

I have to say (as a follow up to the near-battle in the "Nutters of Barrowford" topic)...that I did infact DRIVE through Barrowford a number of times this past weekend.   Through Barlick too and had a pint at The Barlick.   No injuries to report with my driving skills (although I won't mention close calls), so public safety remains as usual.    I wish I had time to search out these places in Barrowford, but the weather didn't cooperate either.   So the pedestrian tour will have to wait till I'm there again.  Thanks again for all the helpful info...I'm packing it away for the next trip.

Deb

There is a good chance that we might pop down on Saturday night to the Fosters to listen to you and before you say NO I will not be singing ....

Well at least bring a full drumkit!

There might be a number of OGFBers in attendance by the sound of it.

Looking forward to seeing you.Go to Top of Page

Wow!   Thanks BarrowfordJohn for the photo!    The most exciting part about my genealogy search is finding the stories and places that surround the black&white facts of birth, marriage & death.   Thanks a million!  Deb.

Do you have a guest list of  members who are attending so I can play 'Spot the OGFBer'?

Ringo, you don't need a list - they're easy to spot as they'll all have attendants standing by them.

Hope you all had a nice time and didn't wreck the place.  Us oldies had an early night.  Alright, it's sad but at least it means I feel better in the mornings......
