Copy of E-mail received yesterday.

About a year ago, I was walking home at lunchtime from Gisburn Road Nursery Barnoldswick with my son. We started to walk past Cravenside old peoples home when I noticed a young man crossing the path to Cravenside next to the grass, he looked and smiled at me, he was carrying a brown paper bag.

I just remember thinking what a lovely warm friendly smile he had as he went off for his dinner(what I presumed was in the bag), then without taking my eyes off him he vanished. I never said anything to my son as he was only 4 at the time.

It wasn't until he vanished that I realised he must have been a ghost, and when I started to recall more detail in my mind I remembered that his clothes were greyish brown and dusty looking(at the time of sighting I just thought builders apprentice) afterwards I'd say more Victorian or 20's/30's.

I have later found out this used to be the coal yard where the old peoples home now stands, maybe he was a young man who lost his life there, or maybe he comes back in spirit to the coal yard because he was at his happiest, when he worked there?

If you can possibly shed any light on this story I would be grateful. contact me joannacw@supanet.com

Thanks.
Joanna Warrington.

Fascinating! Yes, it used to be a coal yard, connected with the railway station. It's been levelled now, but was quite high up, as I recall.

I agree with Calluna, fascinating! We too have a ghost living here with us .... my daughter has seen her! Having spoken to the previous owners about this and having had them verify the odd goings on that have occured in this old house of ours ... this is something I have a huge interest in.

Anyone up for a seance?

During the war whist my dad was serving abroad my mother lived on East Hill Street. In June 1944 she came home from work and on entering the house saw an elderly woman sitting on a stand chair near the sideboard. Mum ran from the house panicking to her sister in law's and told her she seen a ghost.
Millie was a spiritualist and said that she thought it was someone fromthe other side with a message for mum. After some thought my mum thought the "ghost" looked like her recently deceased mother in law, who apparently always sat in that particular stand chair.
The following day mum received a telegram from the War Office notifying her that dad had been wounded in Normandy and was hospitalised.
Mum firmly believed that the "ghost" her mother in law had appeared and the timing was such that it must have happened at the time dad was wounded. Perhaps there was some intent of a message from the other side.

Personally I don't doubt any sincere report on the seeing of 'ghosts'. Until recently many people would not accept that Water Diviners, or 'Dowsers',were actually able to find water. The proven facts are that they can not only locate water, minerals, metals etc. they can accurately pinpoint a watercourse depth, direction of flow, amount of flow and quality of water. This is done via a real perception of natural energies.

Science has very recently accepted the fact that we have a sixth sense, proving by experimentation, to their own satisfaction, that the more aware amongst us can communicate with others over long distances.

There has been a spate of well documented reports over the past year or so (from genuine sources) of the phenomena of 'time slippage'. There is actually a personal report on this regarding airoplanes in Barlick on this site. These events appear to occur when there is strong electromagnetic activity ie. before, during and after thunder storms.

It would seem to me that all of the above are related to the same natural basic provision we have for attenuating hidden energy forces.A sixth sense that has been dulled as we move ever further from our natural state.

I believe that the majority of these reported sighting are genuine instances of people subconsciously picking up stored images from past energy sources (the human body for example). This is a similar principle to the storage of images and sound on magnetic tape.

I do not hold with the assumption that these sightings are related to the 'afterlife' nor do I give much credence to the work of the 'circus' medium although I am well aware that certain genuinely gifted people can tune into a higher level that is above most people's awareness and I respect this.

Hi everyone......

I was aged 14yrs and my Dad was nearly 43yrs old.  We (the family) hadn't seen  Dad for about 6yrs.  He was living in a different state (Queensland) and apparently using the name of his Grandfather - William Thomas Moss.

On 24th Dec 1970 at just gone 11.00pm I had the following dream, copied here just as I have it recorded, which I call

 MY DREAM OF DAD

A man, Dad and myself walking along a valley floor, long winding path, surrounded by tall grey  cobwebby mountains.  The man was wearing a long robe with a hood - couldn't see his face.  Dad and I were talking, holding hands. Dad said "I have to go now".

I was very upset, pleading with him not to, but I couldn't keep hold of him.  The man was holding his other hand and his grip was too strong for me.  I watched them walk away, on down the path.  Dad turned around and waved good-bye.

I woke up knowing he had died.

I kept the dream to myself..........3 months later my sister and I were told (by Authorities) that Dad had died on the night of 24th Dec 1970.  He had been Christmas shopping - a drunk driver had taken him off the footpath ( & his girlfriend, her 2 children, the driver and 2 other people were killed.)  He was buried 4 months later , there was an inquest which concluded the following Sept.

He visits often.  (p.s.  I'll tell you about the dream I had when Grandma died another time.)

I had a similar dream about my dad.

We were both on a cliff edge, overlooking the sea. My dad walked towards his car, got in and waved goodbye. I walked backwards off the cliff but didn't fall, just floated there.

I thought no more of it until 6 months later when he died of cancer. I wonder whether that night the cancer had just started to take hold.Go to Top of Page

For me, seeing is believing. I've not seen and therefore don't believe. I do have an open mind though.

Stevie, I'm up for it.

I like to watch Most Haunted occasionally just for the laugh. Derek will never get an oscar for his performances, he is soooooo fake.

Fair enough......It has to happen first.

I've never actually seen a ghost (spirit), well not that I have realised anyway, but I have experienced the presence of them thru other senses, and there is always a reason 'why'.  For eg the spirit is someone that you had a relationship/connection with when they were here in the physical.  Love never dies.  Usually it is just to let you know that they /you are still connected, which makes it logical.  Angels too.   My advice is 'Always obey that quiet inner voice .'    by - Cathy on 10 September 2005 11:28:00
