Because of the grim weather, I have been unable to experiment outside with my shiny new camera, so I have resorted to indoor efforts, using flash and focus................

This is Feebie, when she was tiny. She was unwanted and covered in fleas when I was given her, but now shes grown large, bold and very fluffy.

Hi Doreen, Still waiting for the sun to shine to try out new camera in a good light. I now have dozens of pics. of new grandchild but in all honesty they are only interesting to our family!! After all - don't all new babies look like Winston Churchill?

A simple thing.....Of course it may be different for you, but in my family there is something in the female genes that compels them to say "look at the camera" everytime they attempt child photography. As I say till I'm blue in the face, you've seen one photo of a child staring at the camera, you've seen them all. So many wonderful chances missed to capture the moment, instead of just another "stuffed baby" photo. With these camera phones it should be even easier, will they listen!

Give me time Malcom, just give me time and I WILL capture the moment!! But I will resist the urge to post on here a good example taken recently of 'capturing the moment' - - camera shutter pressed right at the moment when one week old baby was sick...... gross!!

I think all of your pets are beautiful . I would have to say Meg is the most like my old dog 'Sam'.....she had that same dash of white down her nose. I was most surprised by Nolic's dog, I think. I somehow imagined something else. (don't know why).
But all of your cute little pet photos cannot tempt me to get another animal. Nup! Nup! Nup! (I am stronger than that....I am....) I must keep remembering who got all of the 'poo patrol duty' and who got to wash all of the bowls and hoover the hair all the time. Also the bathing, vet visits, insulin injections (Sam was diabetic)....and ultimately had to muster the courage for that tragic last vet visit. Let's just say, it wasn't Febby! Oooooo....but I do think all of your collective 'babies' are adorable. Chalk me up as an honourary 'Aunt'.
get your people to phone my people and we will do lunch...MAZ |

Rossie, don't wait for the light. The best way to learn about how to use a camera is in low light. Once you've cracked that it's all easy. In the old days the way to try out a new film was to snap a black cat in a coal hole. You soon found out where the boundaries are! Kodak TriX was brilliant, the journo's favourite film. There was even what they called the NUJ setting, 60th of a second at 5.6 aperture. You got something no matter what the light. Much easier today with digital....... Go to It!
