Graham is closer to this side of the family, so will no doubt respond.
Bryson is an unusual name, is that from your mother's side?
Anyway, welcome to the site. Any Broughton is a cousin of mine! But we may have to go back to Richard Broughton born and christened at Barnoldswick 1/8/1616 to find a common ancestor. I think I am descended from Richard Broughton who married Dorothy Williamson at Barnoldswick 28/10/1639, through his second child Roger who was christened 21/11/1645. You guys may be descended from his fourth born John Broughton christened 25/11/1648.

I think that our families link is with the children of John Egerton Broughton born 1810 and Edna Mallinson - my branch is off William where yours seems to come from his brother Louis(Lewis) born 1845

Stand corrected
looking at wrong list on PAF File trying to do to many things at once
Nigel asked about the Broughtons move from Rylstone to Barlick - I think it probably had something to do with 'The Rising of the north' which saw the Norton's from Rylstone facing the 'block' and a revenge scurge sweep through the area in the mid 1560's
The Nortons manor was rased to the ground and the outline can still be seen in the field behind Rylstone church - I guess that the broughtons would have had close connections at the time and probably moved for their own protection ??
any light on this ?

Welcome aboard, Joyce. I sent my email to Angela Proctor; no response yet, but at least it didn't bounce.
I am not 100% convonced that the Roger Broughton who married at Barnoldswick in 1607 then again on 17/6/1613 to Ann Jackson, is the same Roger who was born at Rylstone. It would make him 45 when he married Ann and 58 when he had his last child Elizabeth. Unfortunately the first Broughton mentioned in the parish records as buried at Barnoldswick is a son of Richard Broughton in 1640, but no mention of Roger.
Is there anything which would link the two events as the same person, but I like the reason behind the possible move.

I really dont know why there are so many Louis Napoleon Broughton's in the family but im going to try dig a bit deeper. Id like to know where the family generated from,there seems to be a lot of rumours it was Germany but my dad has always said we started off in England but he didnt know much more than who his grand Parents were...it feels like the Broughton family tried to keep their history a secret for some strange reason ,no one on dads side knew much more than both grandparents and at a push great grand parents,even my dad was sketchy

Sorry he dosnt look like any of my side of the family but i did look on the internet a bit
It seems his regiment came from the wakefield area,i checked the absent voters list for wakefield and there is a mention of a Leiutenant Arthur Broughton Neal in the AGC at the time,they fought in the Boer war, hope this helps you out

A Barnoldswick Broughton
I J BROUGHTON - Rifleman - 2nd/7th Bn., West Yorkshire Regt. (Prince of Wales's Own)
He died on Thursday, 12th April 1917 at the age of 21. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. J. Broughton, of 50, Essex St., Barnoldswick, Yorks. His memorial is on Panel Number I.B.10 in Achiet-le-Grand Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France. The extension is located on the northwest side of the village Achiet-le-Grand, 19 kilometers south of Arras. The CEMETERY EXTENSION was used by the British medical units from April, 1917, to March, 1918, by the Germans to a small extent in March and April, 1918, and by British troops in August, 1918. After the Armistice Plot III and most of Plot IV were made by the concentration of 645 graves, mainly of 1916 and March and August, 1918, from the battlefields round Achiet and from other burial grounds.

This can't be him because one of the photo's I have was taken in 1906 and he would have been 10yrs old. Also my soldier has the Queen's South Africa Medal 1901(6 bars) and the King's South Africa Medal. He was probably born around 1880. If I get no response from the article I'll write to the Rifle Brigade Museum and see if they can help.

I'm working on my family history which I thought was Liverpool based only to discover that my mum's side were originally from Barnoldswick and Bracewell. My GGG Grandfather was a Robert Carr (a butcher) from Bracewell - or maybe more accurately Stock(?). He was married to Anne (from Barnoldswick) and looking at your entry -
Ann BROUGHTON F Ma 3 Jul 1819 Barnoldswick Robert Carr
it appears that she may be Anne Broughton. Aprt from the places of birth this rational is based on their 3rd son being named William Broughton Carr.
I'd be pleased for any information relating to her family and any on his side if available.
