Marilyn-Wet on wet- You really have to use thick watercolourpaper, tube paint is slightly thicker, which i prefer, Wet the paper with a spongefor a large area say you were doing a small area check that a shine has then appeared and with a  fully loaded brush with the paint not too thin ,then just put the tip  of the brush into the wetness. The paint will float across on its own. Look  at the tube and it will tell you about whether its granulated colour which are good for wet in wet, all tubes and pigments have their different ways of performance.Ultramarine  is a good one for granulation, as an example. Keep your water clean , change after each colour you use.

Sue- Look out for these if you are in France- Louve  Paints- I had some given to me they are in tubesand are excellent bright colours with good granulation . I have looked on e-bay but havent seen any here. . The ulramarine beats any ive used for granulation !

Back on the subject of paper stretchers I've just ordered another one!  I received some money as a leaving present from collegues, along with some very nice wine, malt whisky, china mug and a lovely little desk clock set in a brass fishing creel.
I've been so impressed with the small Ken Bromley stretcher that I've ordered the half imperial size and some rough 140gsm paper - that should really test it. I've also spent £10.00 plus on a half inch W&N Sceptre Gold brush - I'll be giving them some hammer over Easter. Nolic

There isn't a big demand for Nolics.......  They take up too much room.

Yes...but surely most of that is skin Stanley.

He would have to have thick skin to put up with comments like that.....oh....and the comments he gets when he's goes on about his treacle mines. (though we have heard little of those lately......obviously he has found a new seam and doesn't want to disclose info.)

One is in Cornwall, St Ives. www.stivesartschool.co.uk , telephonr 01736 797180. I could send you the relevant sections from the booklet if you are interested, just PM your address to me

Did you see me listed in the directory, Sue? Hopefully my work load will increase as a result!
