New topic to make it easier to load. I had the last of the Colcanan I made two days ago. It lasted so long because I bought some small Cox's that were never going to tipen so, waste not want not, I pelled them, stewed them down a bit and after draining them popped them in with the colcanan. Bit more seasoning and it was nice....

Yes David but it's the bone that yields the really good texture for the gravy. I should perhaps have said offal instead of cheap cuts.

Now that my tooth drama is over, I'm gradually getting back into normal eating again. Just love gnashing those teeth together without pain once more.
(It took another two attempts by another dentist to get the tooth out...in the end she had to employ commando tactics and sheer brute force...but I was very grateful to have it resolved. )

Lovely day off today.  Wife working in London for a couple of days, I've sat in my library, read a lot of stuff on here etc, and am now off to the pub for a couple of pints and the crossword.

But have also made a great big vat of braised red cabbage - apples, wine vinegar, sugar, spices etc - which will be cooled and frozen as batches.  Also made a load of chutney - a standard marrow one, and a squash one.  All ready for Christmas and New Year.

Sausages and some of that red cabbage for tea.......unless the chippy lures me in after the pub!

Meatballs in slightly chillied beef and tomato sauce with some kind of pasta (not decided yet with cheese on top. Followed by oven baked rice pudding (milk was on bogof), that's my excuse anyway!

Bruff...you sound like a man who knows his way around the kitchen. I am always impressed by the cooking abilities of the males on this site. I don't think the Australian Male is quite up to standard....though they look good in speedos and generally know their way around the beer fridge...

I can't find me Speedos. I wondered whether to insert the pic of my bum again but then decided you have probably seen it enough times.

Quite !!  Casserole steak and onions tonight.  One of Jamies 30 minute meals two nights ago was a cauliflower macaroni - it looked really good so I am going to look for it on the Channel 4 Food website.
