Hi,
what does anyone think about the possibility of Fernbank Mill in Barlick being demolished in the near future?
Is this a good thing?
Are there any reasons why it shouldn't be?
The owner is seeking permission to demolish it.
Please let me know what you think...........

This is a wonderful video Tom, glad that you have downloaded it on this very appropriate site. I saw the "premier" at the Barnoldswick rainhall cinema, it really was dramatic on the large screen with surround sound. The slow motion bit was something else, I`ve never heard the death rattle of a Mill chimney before.
The only thing missing was a "Cameo" appearance of yourself, where were you hiding ?

P.S.This video is best watched by clicking to the Youtube site and watching on full screen Mode.

Quick internet search today brings up

from Petty Commercial Propery Agents.

http://www.pettycommercial.co.uk/property_details.php?property=272

*A CLEARED AND LEVELED FORMER MILL SITE
*PLEASANT SEMI RURAL LOCATION ON THE EDGE OF BARNOLDSWICK TOWN CENTRE
*GOOD QUALITY HOUSING IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY *IDEAL SITE FOR RESIDENTIAL, SUBJECT TO OBTAINING THE NECESSARY PLANNING CONSENT   Location
The site is located off Fernbank Avenue, which in turn is directly adjacent  Skipton Road (A619) on the edge of Barnoldswick town centre. There is easy access from the site towards Skipton via the A59 and Colne via the A61 Description
A generally level site that is approached via Fernbank Avenue.  There is a right of way to the edge of the site leading to premises to the rear. The former traditional northlight mill has been demolished and the site cleared. Accommodation
2.284 hectares            (5.13 acres)..

Of Course while filling up the site with some kind of residential development ( Commuter Land for Manchester or Burnley ? ) , theres not a lot of increase of employment opportunities locally for the increase in residents ( unless the world changes fast in the next 3 years )

Good pics John particularly the one of the shafting alley. Quite a rare feature and I have only found one other in all my research, at Crow Nest. Thanks for that, I've pinched it for the archive!

Like watching a big old tree coming down Moh. Mind you, the trees grow again, the stacks don't.
