Our youngest son achieved his goal of gaining a Green Beret today. He has completed all the Commando Tests over the past two weeks. Seeing he has done this whilst full time at University is something I am really chuffed about. He is in the RMR after having completed 9 years in the RAF.

His older brother served 9 years in the Marines so he is saying Gareth will only get a Rubber Dagger when he leaves Lymstone tomorrow  !!!! I haven't told him yet, that he has been presented with a real Commandos  Dagger for being the top recruit from RMR Scotland.

You must be well proud of him Frank, It's one of the toughest physical courses ever invented.

Well done that man.

I don't visit this site very often but I am glad I stopped by today. I am so proud of your son, Frank. You must be bursting with pride! Hearty congratulations! I hope he will never suffer harm during his service to our country.

It would be nice to be able to do 'tough physical'......  Nowadays that means putting me boots on!  Nice to hear there are still lads about who can stay the course, that's the most important attribute no matter where they finish in the class order afterwards.

Frank, what a star! Thank goodness there are men like your sons around to look after us. They should be given celebrity footballers as servants to look after their kit, clean their barracks, bring their drinks etc!

Well done Frank's son.  Our grandson is in the REME in Germany and due to go to Afghanistan in September - I wish they would get out of there, they will never win.

Our son woke on Wednesday and said I think I will do the Deeside Ultra Marathon on Saturday 33 miles. His brother said what training have you done ? I haven't done any was the reply, but I don't quit so I will do it. We waited at Duthie Park and after 4 hrs 51 minutes in he came with a rucksack on his back. What the hell is the rucksack for said his brother "my clothes" when I got here this morning and got changed I just put my stuff in the sack and off I went.
Someone texted a friend who runs marathons and told her the story only one word came back in reply  RESPECT. So it cost him a tenner to enter and he got this bottle of beer, but he knows now he can run a marathon in 3hrs 40 minutes and then do the next 7 miles in 67 minutes. Splits are rubbish he says but they will get better, like his feet I suppose !!!
Well Done Royal you have my Respect
