Hello,

I was referred to this website by a current member, i thought it would be a good idea to start off here and put a link for our website.

We are based in Wigan and are very keen in it's rich history. Perhaps not as rich on the eye now, but we go and out and find just what's been hidden and document what we can.

Regards,

Explorations.

Are there other Wigan history sites?  Why not give the links to them as well?  Dark print on a black background isn't the easiest thing to read, consider a lighter background........  entries not printed in white are impossible to read....

Good idea Stanley, i will post these websites below for your usage.

With the format of the website, we quite like it. it's a free forum we just have a problem with meta tags and getting it to appear on google searches or any other search engine.

Enjoyed the Rylands Mill topic. The site is now fully closed off awaiting development. I'm hoping for leniency regarding the lodge and it's original features.

Regards,

Which is most important, the fact that you like it or that it is difficult to read......  Well worth thinking about.

Your the first to take any notice Stanley.

Black background with white font? opposites surely make it easy to read. what do you suggest?

Ive messed about on here with different backgrounds and fonts,my eyes are not the best and iam too vain to get specs, but I think a pale background with dark font is much easier to read, its tiny things like this that can be subconciously off-putting to some people..

I think Tom has it about right.  Violent contrasts are hard on old eyes and if the background is darker than the text it gives the whole page a gloomy aspect.  Have a look at the most successful web sites and they almost all stick to dark text on pale backgounds.  Have you ever seen a book printed on black paper?

Not meant to be criticism, just helpful comment.  If something is hard to read it puts me off.  Perhaps it might apply to others.  First impressions when you log onto a site are the most important.

Nice to see this website still going strong, superb. I'll have to update you regarding Rylands Mill in Wigan soon, it's been closed off for a long time and open to vandalism. I'd like to know what's happening to one of the most original featured lodge's in the country, as seen in previous thread by 'Mercury' a while back.

We have made many changes to our website, such as domain name, layout and also added new areas of focus.

Enjoy.

Don't want to sound discouraging, but I clicked into the above website, waited and waited while nothing connected, so tried to get back to OG but the tab had disappeared. I then had to restart my computer.  I'll wait to see how others go before trying again.
