Many of you may have already heard this information, but I have just read about it this morning and thought it was important to pass it on, especilay to those who are weight watching. It has apparantly been discovered that the artificial sweetener Aspartame, which is found in diet drinks, yohurts, desserts, other diet foods and sugar substitutes, can cause severe health problems which mimic MS and lupus, and can even threaten life. The reason is that Aspartame is made from wood alcohol which at 87o f turns to fomaldaheid and is stored in the body as formic acid, (no doubt tizer will sort me out if i have got the science wrong!) which acts on a detrimental way on the nervous system. It can cause dizziness, vision problems, mood swings, depression, weakness in the limbs, chronic fatigue, tingling in the limbs, behavious disorders and ultimately death. it is especially dangerous for children and Diabetics, as it can cause seizures. Interestingly the Diabetic society is partly funded by money from the Aspartame industry, I believe. I went to have a healthy breakfast this morning after reading this and found my weight watchers yoghurts contained it, so am now going to be more careful in label reading. Some doctors even think the high consumption of cola drinks by the armed forces in hot places contributes partly to what is known as Gulf war syndrome.

I am as nutty as a fruit cake on occasions, quite a lot of occasions actually. I think it may have been my mum who said - don't worry about mental decline when looking for your car keys, worry about it when you find your keys and don't know what to use them for.

I have a private theory. The time to start worrying is when you waken in a strange room and a lady in white says 'Good Morning Mr Graham. It's Thursday!'

Another Stanley mantra..... 'If you want to keep it, use it.' Not too sure whether it actually works but the best we can do in the circs.....
