I saw on Saturday the large mill down Clitheroe Road in Brierfield has been demolished apart from the front up to the canal which is going to be apartments, and the chimney. A source at Barnfields tells me it is to be demolished but did not know any details. Does anyone know who is doing it and when?

Bob, not a bad wage for 1946. I have wage slips from the 1950s for seven days work, £8-10-0. Those were the days! Mind you, I bought a seven acre farm off that wage and supported a family! Hardly credible now.

Thanks Bob for delivering my old mate "Eddie--the Ramsbottom Steeplejack" to my FRED DIBNAH'S CHIMNEY DROPS talk at Robin's fantastic MILLTOWN GALLERY, Waterfoot. It goes without saying that I was delighted to greet yourself and young Swifty who went back home happily clutching to his breast a framed print of Robin's magnificent oil painting of Fred atop a ladder on a mill chimney. And Robin, a million thanks for inviting me and Christine, the event went extremely well. Roll on the next one! Much future success with your endeavours--should anyone deserve to win--then you and Sue most surely do. Happy Steamings Ahead!

Bob, I was doing a bit of admin this morning and noted that you were about as early as I was. I was totting hits up for SC and by March when the site is seven years old SC will have reached 1,000,000 page views. A credit to all involved. Who'd have thought that so many people would have a fetish for hairy-backed steeplejacks and demo men!
