Maz, nowt wrong with surprises as long as they are good ones! I had a chip butty for lunch and a cheese and tomato for tea. It always amazes me that I lived off butties for years as a wagon driver and I never got fed up with them. (I had my fruit as well and a yoghurt for pudding so balance was OK!

I nearly asked recently, if anyone had a halogen oven, as they look good on TV (as does everything!). Then I looked at some reviews, and was put off, as there seem to problems with early element failure. I'm a sucker for gadgets though, despite having just given away my bread maker (paddle stuck), fruit juicer and food processor (never used), so I expect I'll surrender shortly. Let us know how you get on with it, and what it's best for if you could.

I have only used it twice so far - to grill sausages and warm a pie. It does everything a conventional oven does - even bakes bread. My friend in Majorca showed me hers when we were there a couple of months ago. She said since she bought it she has not used her big oven. When we saw them on offer at Netto we thought we would give it a go.

The pork chops and onions cooked in the halogen were lovely and only took 15 mins. Gammon, jacket potatoes and mushy peas tonight.

I mad a sausage casserole and underestimated the strength of my new bottle of sweet chilli sauce. Bit powerful even for me! I whipped up two eggs and stirred them in and that did the trick, took the edge off the chillis, Strange pink colour but tastes good.

Not from frozen I hope Stanley...it really isn't good practice to cook meat that way. (not that you are going to listen to a damn thing I say....and when one really thinks about it, I expect the Eskimoes do it all the time as their meat would never thaw!)
But I do worry about leaving the oven on all night. Why not buy a big Crock Pot (slow cooker)....could be safer? You only need some baked on fat or something to catch in that oven, and here comes a house fire. (unless your oven is self cleaning - like mine - and therefore a safer option.)

Cooked another cauldron of Soup today (chicken ,pasta and garden veg)
Febby is very happy with his weight at present....and I don't want to be the one blamed for upsetting the apple cart....so Soup it is. (he weighs himself every morning and the day does not get off to a good start if the numbers aren't right!)

Maz, no problems cooking from frozen, the temperature rises too quickly to allow bugs to multiply and anyway, it's my environment and I have all the necessary immune systems. Hogget butty after Letcliffe walk, Beetroot and tomato butty follwed by strawberry yoghurt and apples for tea. All on home made bread, you can't get much more healthy food than that! What is it about salt on good freshly cut tomatoes that tastes so good!

They don't taste right without it.  Had a lamb roast dinner last night and I cooked a pot of chilli in the oven at the same time for later this week and some for the freezer.
