...Frabjous Day.
Whaddya think?
In case you aren't familiar with The Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll, here's a Wiki clicky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabberwocky
We can't keep the name Helen's Drum as Silsden will be calling their replacement boat by that monicker. We had toyed with 'Rosa Calluna' but felt it was a bit fey, complicated and a right mouthful. 'Big Bertha' failed the relatives' test...
As Frabjous Day is one of my fave sayings when I'm happy, and Jabberwocky is an off-the-wall poem so it matches our personalities, this is now likely to become the boat's name. We have to complete the registration form by Thursday.

Time to worry is when you find webs between your toes.

Thought I'd add this as a form of closure - today Bernulf sailed off into the sunset ... or more accurately, lunchtime ...
The sale went smoothly and his two new owners managed to get away in time, ie before the L&L closes on Monday.
He's off to Ripon, but it looks like he'll have yet another name: Fisherman's Friend.
We had a brilliant 3 years and don't regret going for it, but now it's on to the next adventure - house renovation!

It looks so well - all your hard work. Were there any tears?

Oh yes - E had a little blubber. But I'd spent all morning running hither and thither, filling the diesel and water tanks (hope I remembered correctly which was which...) that by the time Bernulf glided (Glid? Glode?) past I was quite drained.
It was noticeable how quiet the engine was compared with most other boats, and how little wash Bernulf created. The boat we're on now hardly moved as Bernulf went past.
I shall miss the old bugga. |

Think of the fun you're going to have on dry land.
