I've been thinking of starting this topic for a while.  Let's see how it goes....

Asked if he was in charge of the nation, in the absence of the Prime Minister -
Mr Clegg told Metro: ‘Yeah, I suppose I am. I forgot about that.

Tizer posts like that belong in What caught your attention today. It helps to keep this site interesting if every topic posted isn't hi- jacked by the same small group of people who seem to have only one type of topic to discuss.

Pherecydes the Greek philosopher, who was at his best in the middle 500s BC, avowed that “a mans nostril is larger than the circumference of his index finger but smaller than the circumference of his thumb”.

Belle, Feel free to move it to the Attention thread and then delete this post and yours. Sometimes thoughts arise through the `stream of consciousness' route and Ian Hislop was being quoted as having accused Marr of hypocrisy. So in a sense it was a `quote of the day' as well as catching my attention! (Or simply delete the post - I've still got 4544 others!)   Wink

I'm not clever enough to do that Tizer, but thanks for not being upset with me I knew you would take it in the spirit it was meant.

"I thought it was a bit off for a journalist to gag other journalists." Ian Hislop yesterday on R4 commenting on the superinjunction. Not only a quote but an understatement.

"Some Bulgarians wandered in and were totally out of their depth" (I paraphrase. Quotation from the landlord of the pub in Bucklebury talking on R4 about being interviewed by the media over fifty times. Beachcomber is alive and well!)

Yes really.    There wasn't a trace of irony.

Here's a quote from Jim Greenhalf's blog......

"Anyone who doesn't have the wit to think well of himself is a fool; but anyone who is foolish enough to think too well of himself is a conceited ass"

I like that David. Quiet self regard is no sin as long as it is well-founded. As David Moore once pointed out to me, "The big trap is believing your own advertising!"

I haven't spoken to David for quite a long time. Is he still well? Is he still clicking his shutter?

You've lost me Catty, David Moore was the principal of our local college and died some years ago.
