I have seen the photographs of Booth Bridge Mill on this site but has anyone got any information about musical instruments being manufactured here - Violins and Chello's etc.

Taken from A History of Earby Baptists by the late J.A.Walker:

Page 33.

“Levi Turner was the choirmaster for about 20 years, and his daughter, Millicent became a brilliant violinist, also being a schoolteacher at Alder Hill School. About one hundred years ago violins were being manufactured at Booth Bridge and there must have been a ready sale for them in Earby. “

Punch Vandaleur Wilkinson into the search engine. He was a noted musician but I've never heard anything abbout musical instruments being made there. It wouldn't surprise me in the least, music is a very strong thread in the history of the district. At one time there were three orchestras in Barlick alone.
