Plugs may well have been on the Beano but DD was in The Dandy. Nolic

Thanks for the correction, Nolic. So, let's sort out this critical information. who was in what? I didn't get The Dandy.
The Beano - Bash Street Kids, Dennis the Menace, Beryl the Peril...???

I got the Beano but I used to borrow the Dandy and I generally got both the annuals at Christmas.
I get confused which was in which, I've seen some of the comics in both of them ( Little Plum ? )

Not sure who was in what and to be fair I would only have guessed at DD in The Dandy but after I'd written that Aunt Aggi made the pies I went on Wiki to see if I was correct and the mini history ogf DD and The dandy is all there.
I was very impressed that I'd managed to remember Aunt Aggi as I tend to be forgetting...

Mrs Tizer's copy of "Mrs Beeton's Cookery & Household Management", presented to her as a school prize and well-used! In this copy of the book, Mrs Beeton lists Steak Pudding but it appears to be what I would call Steak pie - made in normal pastry and cooked in the oven. She doesn't list steak pudding as I know it - white object made in a tin dish.
You can access a version of the book on the Mrs Beeton web site:
http://www.mrsbeeton.com/
or buy it new for about £22 paperback or £30 hardback.

My understanding also Tizer. If it has a pastry crust it is a pie, does'nt matter about the filling, steak or steak and kidney. A pudding has a suet based case and is steamed, filling as above.
Mrs Beaton, no kitchen is complete without one and also the Be-Ro recipie book, lovely for cakes and stuff. Did any one see the Hairy Bakers last night with their take on the afternoon tea fare. Yummy, the choc chip and sour cherry cookies looked really good as well as the Bakewell Pudding. Time to get the baking bowls out....

I have a copyof Mrs Beeton's Household Management book with recipes - the preface is for the new edition 1888. It is about 6" thick.
