New topic to make it easier to load. I had the last of the Colcanan I made two days ago. It lasted so long because I bought some small Cox's that were never going to tipen so, waste not want not, I pelled them, stewed them down a bit and after draining them popped them in with the colcanan. Bit more seasoning and it was nice....

Fish and chips last night. I've never rated the mwave for cooking but have to say that I have yet to find a better way of cooking fish than in a closed casserole with whatever oil, spices etc. you are using and a quick blast at high level. Quick and no flavour lost, very much like the chef's modern way of sealing in a vacuum pack and cooking in a water bath.

I don't put onions in my bombay potatoes there are usually enough in the curry.  I par boil them cut into cubes, add chilli flakes & tumeric to the oil and fry them until a lovely golden colour.

In fact I changed my mind and we had pilau rice instead.

Meat balls, baked beans & chips tonight - something simple!

Fish and chips again last night, I had some fish in the freezer that was two months beyond sell-by date. Perfectly all right of course, nice bit of line caught plaice. I think I fancy another pork chop tonight, the one from Kelbrook last week was a lovely bit of meat. Almost finished the hogget, must ask Stewart to look out for another older sheep for me.

Deadly made the tea lst night, due to the fact that I was incoherent post sedative...I asked what it was..diazipam or tramazipam or summat like that...anyway I wouldn't be fighting a glasow gang war for it that's for sure! Procedure went ok, but I have been very sleepy on and off ever since.. I am not allowed to drive a car, operate machinery etc till 24 hours have passed..that will be this afternoon.. but I realised when I found my self standing in the kitchen this morning wondering if hoovering constituted either driving or operating machinery, I had to be a bit woozy still to be asking myself such silly questions..

Glad to hear from you Belle, I was sat here wondering how you were going on. The fact that you were even considering hoovering is the alarming thing, rest and gentle walks for a day or two woman, that's all you need to do.

Steak casseroled in tomato with chips. I was still hungry so I had two pieces of toast with cheese and coleslaw to top up. Sausage in some form tonight, probably with mash.

Glad you made it thru the procedure Belle. (Do you remember much about it?)
A hoover is definately MACHINERY. I'd just let the idea of hoovering float around your head for a day or two and then kick it out the front door with the aid of your boot. No rush. You have the rest of your life to hoover and no-one ever died from a bit 'o dust.
So are you back on your old medications now....and getting relief from all that wind? Hope so.

Think we are having Fish and Chips tonight. A rare treat indeed! Febby has been complaining of hunger all afternoon and yet I am strangely not in the least bit hungry. So we had a discussion about what to have for dinner and it seems he could eat a horse and chase the rider....Fish and Chips looks the easiest option because I can just pick and he can stuff his face.

We sometimes forget how popular fish and chips is in Oz. Mags had to feed about twenty people the other day and she simply rang the fish and chip shop and ordered industrial quantities. Veryt sensible.

When I was out with Jack thisd morning I remembered that I had dropped a £20 note in the butchers yesterday but some honest soul picked it up and handed it in. I enjoyed my steak so much last night I thought I'd have another tomorrow so I trolled down to Stewart's got a sirloin and my £20 less £2.35 and I've put it in a casserole on the fridge with Garlick, onion, Worcestershire Sauce and a sprinkle oif salt. It can sit there marinading until tomorrow and then get grilled. I'll make a sauce with the marinade.

Poor pensioners, skimping and scraping to survive.....

Thanks everyone. I did hoover did three washings and ended up cleaning the kitchen and washing the floor at the end of the night..obviously a side effect of the medication!
Yes Maz I do vaguely remember some unpleasantness...i think it was made worse because I forgot to tell them I am not known by my first name..so I would not have responded at all to the directions they were giving me!

Only fifty bob of it Moh. Just turned it over and all the bits have been talking to each other in the fridge overnight. I think I'll fry it in a bit of butter and oil, add some tms to the marinade and that'll be the sauce. Chips again?

Far out, Stanley. You are gonna look like a ruddy chip soon.

I made a big (big!) pot of soup today, so we will have some of that shortly.
I also made some FUDGE. First time I have ever tried it. Easy to make and....I don't want to blow my own bags....but Febby has been creating a trail to the container all afternoon.
I've just been thinking what a great gift it would make done up in a nice little box with a ribbon or something. Would have to make it in secret though...for obvious reasons!
