Nice report on R4 of a radio presenter who enquired of the Post Office where the nearest post box was and was told the information couldn't be supplied as it was commercially sensitive.

8000+ people a week would disagree according to my editor. Nonsense
See what I mean "How does the editor know that is a fact"  Has he done a poll ?? That Stanley is Nonsense without Facts.
3 million people a day read the Daily Mail but they don't agree with what is written !!!

His poll is feedback from readers and his circulation figures. Are you saying he doesn't know his job as well as you do?

Here we go again!!!! I agree with Frank though on most of the topic themes- Quote of the Day; Politics Corner; Tizer's Science News; Banks are out to get you; Public service cuts - where is Barlick in all of this, that is what I thought the site started off about.

Moh, the recent posts on this topic are around Stanley's articles in the Barlick and Earby Times - how much more Barlick can you get?

Of the 30 topics on the front page 10 are locally focused. A number of others like What did we have for tea, Today is the day, Old Age and Freedom etc give all members a chance to offer some helpfull thoughts etc and do not delve into politics or current affairs.

The site will never revert to what it was as the membership is constantly changing and will continue to do so. Topics around Barlick and locality still crop up but if the site were limited to  this then it would die a slow death.  Nolic

Moh. dont fret, there are still some true Barlickers about, open minded and friendly with a sense of humour, there is a chance that I may meet Frank this year, this I am looking forward to as we share a common experience, I may also be seeing Herb shortly and I know we will have a laugh, not like some of the dour countenances that can be seen around town.

Thank you Comrade!

The event of the day yesterday for me was that I finished proof-reading volume 4 of the CHSC minute books. You can't get much more Barlick oriented than that! I'm in 1910 at the moment and BUDC are in a frenzy of sewer pipe laying and road repairs. They were making the connections for the East Hill Street area where I live and as a temporary measure allowed the contents of the sewer pipe to run onto land at Wellhouse owned by CHSC. The directors complained but in effect were told that nothing could be done about it. When you think that this was happening all over the town it makes you realise the disruption old Barlickers had to put up with to give us the infrastructure we still rely on today.

Bad tornado season in the Suthern US with at least 300 deaths reported to date. Much to be said for living in a moderate climate. The US weather often affects us but at the moment the air flow seems to be set in the East so we may not get the aftermath of their weather.

I've just spotted Big Kev's photograph of Weets in the latest Nothern Life magazine. Nice picture Kev, shame they found such a small corner to fit it in. Nolic

Glad you have come to recognise that at last, mind you it took you some time to realise that fact .

Despite the sense of your own importance you at least have a sense of humour.

At least I thought he had until I just received the following PM   "  Sorry but you won't bully me off, that's what it feels like. "

So its OK for frank to have a pop at others but when someone turns it around its bullying!!! Grow up. Nolic

Coming up behind an SUV and another car following a VERY large Tractor pulling a stock trailer, on the way back from Wadebridge ,......Cloud of dust and brakelights....as it clears I see that the tractor's off-side rear wheel has come OFF !..Eight feet in diameter ?...It's gently rolling down the road , having overtaken the tractor......Slight curve in road....Wheel ends up demolishing a hedge, and is lieing on top of the bank.

We file past , driver OK and on the mobile , when I suddenly realise that there was no oncoming traffic, during the whole event......The next vehicles I see are whole group of Motor Cycles coming in the opposite direction , and not hanging about either....... JESUS !

It's only half an hour ago and I just had another shudder .
