Fresh Scottish mussels are on special offer in Morrisons. Garlic, black pepper, largle glug of extra dry martini and a good splash of double cream. Lots of fresh bread for dunking. Could well be on for Saturday night.

Good sociable food...

Had the mussels for tea tonight with the addition of some choritzo and a bit of fresh chilli, delicious...

Kev, haven't fancied shellfish ever since a nasty experience in Doncaster involving brandy and cockles! (You don't need to know the details, believe me!)

Four mutton chops casseroled slowly with peas and tomato puree with sliced spuds on top. Good stuff. Two day's grub.

Releif to know they are Mutton chops Stanley, when your previous posts said Mitton chops I was hearing shades of inspector Cleauseau!

It's a bermb Belle! It's the mild dyslexia kicking in. Funnily enough daughter Margaret has it as well. Sausage casserole with baked beans and sliced spuds today.

Got a big piece of very fatty breast of mutton out of the freezer. I am considering the options!

By the time I'd rendered a bowl of mutton fat off the breast, separated the meat from the fat, cut it up and pressed it I had some nice hard stew for slicing for butties. But being mutton it tastes lovely and will do me for two days.

Shank end of a leg of mutton slow-cooked in a 100C oven all night. Meat cut off the bone this morning, wrapped in film and into the fridge. A loaf started up which will be out at 11am. Guess what's on the menu today? mutton butties!

Rib eye steak, salad & chips tonight - although the food was fantastic in the hotel in Majorca it always feels good to get back to home cooked meals.

Moh, couldn't agree more. While you were away swimming with dolphins I did a little repair job for Stewart my butcher and the reward was a big piece of rump steak. It casseroled nicely but I cooked it in wine and to tell you the truth, it was  bit rich for my taste. Sausages today!
